Questions three

These are just a few things that have been nagging me, as I'm still a little uncertain with the new rulebook's setup.

I have a box of the new Space Wolves troops, and I am not sure whether to build more Blood Claws, or Grey Hunters. I already have three packs of GH's and two of BC's.

Fluffily, I should have more Greys than Claws, I realize.

Rune Priests. How important is Chooser of the Slain these days? And is it for the best to have atleast one RP in Term armor or can they all get by with regular armor?

Iron Priests. Is it a bad idea to give him his own whole squad of 4 cyberwolves and 3 servitors, or is he better off with 3 or less?

Personally, I'd go for more GH in this edition of the codex. Since you already have two units of BC, I would suggest getting more BC in the form of Skyclaws or Swiftclaws.

I have very rarely used the Iron Priest. In 5th, I think I'll never end up using him with games less than 1500pts simply because we have a lot of elite options like scouts, dreads, and Lone wolves that I prefer to use (as well as WG). If you want your IP to be mobile I'd go with the wolves, but if he can be transport by a rhino of a different unit then I'd prefer servitors, since they enhance his ability to patch up vehicles.

I have some Skyclaws and Swiftclaws already. More of the latter than the former. I've got a five-man squad of Sky's, and two squads (3 bikes and an attack bike) of Swift's.

Any other input? How about on the Rune Priests?

LS,

Do you have any Long Fangs? If not I would skip on the Grey Hunters and Blood Claws (you have plenty), buy the plastic Devastator boxed set, and use your SW pack set to build a full pack of Long Fangs. Then, you'll have enough parts left to fill out your Sky Claws pack. In my experience Jump Infantry do better with larger packs, as they have no protection from a transport on the approach.

As to Rune Priests, the Chooser is helpful for blocking some infiltrators, but helps more with bringing up the BS of your Rune Priest. Since many of our Psychic Powers are now psychic shooting attacks, using a Chooser means hitting on 2+; very helpful with Living Lightning, for example.

Many folks are using Rune Priests as a shooting support character, taking advantage of the new powers, and attaching them to Long Fangs, or rear consolidation Grey Hunters, and aren't pushing them into an assault like they would with other SW characters. Thus, going with regular Power Armour over TDA works just fine in most cases.

The other thing with RP in termie armour is it stops him going in transport. For me, the Rune Armour is much better. With the 2+ save this give AND using Wolf Standard, this effectively gives your Rune Priest 1 round of automatic armour saves.
