rodgers37
Hey..... I am going to be buying some GKs in Janurary ;) 2 squads of GKs, 2 LRs, 1 BC and 4 Terminators... So what else could i add.... are assassins any good? i wouldn't want too much more, just a bit to give me some options (i will probably buy a Dread from FW, as they look cool :P ) And what are the basic GK tactics? (other than kill Daemons......) Thanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186057-starting-a-grey-knights-army-d/ Share on other sites
Souba
add an inquisitor if you want to add a assasin coz otherwise you cant put them in. personally i had multiple 1k- 1.5k point games and my land raiders were shot down so fast that i couldnt believe it. maybe just personal luck of mine but 2 dreads with Laser cannon and rocket launcher did better and where less of a target for my enemy players. SamaNagol
I would recommend also getting 2 Rhinos and then waiting to see if the new Imperial Storm Troopers are released by then. 2 or more 5 man squads of Storm Troopers with melta guns adds vital anti tank power and also buffs out your Troop choices. And provides a nice distraction from all those huge guns firing at your Land Raiders! Lungboy
Plastic Stormtroopers have been rumoured for so long now i wouldn't bother waiting for them. Kasrkin make fantastic IST, if you don't like the proper models, and can be bought off eBay or trade fairs at reasonable prices. number6
My advice is to not build a pure GK army. It isn't a balanced army capable of tackling all-comers. Many armies built to exploit the 5th edition rules will just smash you to pieces becauase a GK-only force is incapable of countering them. GKs have a distinct weakness against armour and low-AP weaponry. This has always been a pronounced weakness since the codex was introduced back in 3rd edition. But the 5th edition rules set has made that weakness a crippling liability that cannot be handled by "superior tactics". Units exist -- at bargain-basement points costs -- such that mere volume just shuts down a GK army in no time flat. I suggest you check out the Hunting daemons topic -- which is linked from the "Online Resources" topic pinned at the top of this forum -- for more balanced and competitive DH army list builds and discussion.
