hendybadger
I am adding some Storm Trooprs and an Inq with Retinue to my Grey Knights. But I cant decide on how to transport them. What would be best for each of the 2 units? Rhino, Chimera or Inq LandRaider? Thanks in advance Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186101-daemonhunters-transports/ Share on other sites
Uncle Mel
For the IST i would (and do) use a rhino if you are low on points and go tank hunting and a Chimera for anti infantry. In the case of the =][= it depends on his role as well, basically same as the IST. giving him a raider is only for when you can't access GK raiders. hendybadger
He his a gun-line =][=. Would it be best to give him a LR or let him use a GK one? And if he is in a LR could you use the LCs as the deep strike free shot? Grabsnikk
If he is a gunline =][= with heavy weapon servitors then its probably not worth giving him a transport as you will want to be stationary and firing from turn 1. You could however just buy him a Chimaera and use it as an empty mobile firebase of course. hendybadger
Or maybe take a LR and dont use it as transport, just more LCs? But I can see why I shouldnt out them in. What about the ISTs? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186101-daemonhunters-transports/#findComment-2200789 Share on other sites
Grabsnikk
Give the ISTs 2 Meltas, put them in a Rhino with Armour and Smoke and they will be golden. hendybadger
That sounds like a very good plan. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186101-daemonhunters-transports/#findComment-2201281 Share on other sites
Uncle Mel
It's the basic "wasp" unit in the DH arsenal. Only 120 pts. If the opp ignores them they will kill his tank, if he targets them, your landraiders go on unscathed. silversmith82
I'll point out once again that if you induct an Armored Fist platoon (2 squads, 1 command, 3 chimeras) you get 3 IG chimeras that are WAY better than their DH counterparts, can carry ISTs AND you get 25 more bodies that can be tooled out with all sorts of goodies. All for another extra 95 pts or so base cost vs 3 empty DH Chimeras. I made a big post about it a few weeks back... Anyway if you're going to go with Chimeras IMO it is silly not to go this route. If you go with Rhinos, the only bad thing is 1 fire point but that doesn't stop you from just dumping them out and firing both meltas if something absolutely has to die. Just make sure to block LoS with the Rhino when you do it. Benefits to the IG Chim is 5 fire points, amphibious, and the bonus 25 man squad that you just sit on a home objective and blast away all game. Another fun thing to do if you take the IG platoon is to sit a dual mystic Inqusisitor with an auspex next to it and light up anything that deep strikes/infiltrates. Also, this topic has been discussed NUMEROUS times recently... hendybadger
Im trying to keep away from allied / inducted units. Want to keep in only 1 codex for now. Looks like the 5 man ISTs with 2 meltas in a rhino is the way to go. Ill start with 2 units of them. Or is more bettter? hendybadger
I know this is a little off topic but, can the Auspex be used aswell as the sage/mystic to give 2 free shooting turns on the same unit? Uncle Mel
Remember that the IQ needs terminator armour in order to get the Auspex. May i ask why? The asterisk in teh armoury means that it may be chosen for termies, not the other way around. kiwitexansfan
I know this is a little off topic but,can the Auspex be used aswell as the sage/mystic to give 2 free shooting turns on the same unit? I think you will find the Auspex allows fire against infiltrators, while the mystics allow shots against deep strikers. So I believe the answer is no, however taking it does discourage people creeping up on you.
