UKGT Heat 3 Report

good batreps. but i have a nagging feeling more than ever. none of those lists were GT competitive at all. the chaos lacks mobilty and hard hitting units close combat or shooting take your pick.

Plus the vulkan army was no where near balanced and didn't have enough troops, good screening tactic but overdid it. Man i really wish i could of gone into the GT.

You did very very well however ^^.

At least two of the italian team offered him a ticket as they'd qualified on points and painting. Marcus seems to attract Italians like wasps to jam, he played 4 of them.

Too bad SW may not have the competitive edge, a few weeks or more release before GT, and new toys in the next GT, because i really like the codex.

anyone know of any tournaments that are worth as much as the GT or anything similar that is either GWS official tourney or not? in the UK.

thanks

Just a another comment on competitiveness of GT lists...

I think Nids will be really good next year...... having read the rumours, and a few brief rule snippits from the GW email and article, i think they will own (such as more than 1 Broodlord, Hive Guard getting 2 S8 shots a turn, not needing LOS....ect ect....)

Space Wovles i think will be a good enough army to go with a 'fluffy' kinda army, and still do well, a basic set up, involving, grey hunters, long fangs ect should be able to do pretty well....

i think the next codex is necrons or is it dark eldar? Either way experiences from the past two codexes IMO makes me think that the best armies are the ones that are the newest. Nidz will be aewsome though, can't wait to see how they will turn out.

thanks

Not to derail, but as along time Necron player I suspect the next codex will simply bring them in line with 5th edition and they will remain a medium or 2nd tier army. Those played be good to very good players will always do well. But they will not, nor should not, end up like a Vulkan or dual nob squad/ dual lash list.

You will most likely see the C'tan and Monolith greatly reduced in effectivness and the Troop choice FO bolstered substantially combined with an overall neutral reshuffle of remaining existing units.

The biggest effect on Necrons have been the 4th and 5th edition rule sets. The codex is solid.

UK, east midlands. apparently from warseer, i don't trust this rumour at all but i thought i would bring it in, that the ctan gods will be gone. literally wiped from the codex. i would rather see them degraded than put down, they are really nice fluff models and i would like to see them still being used. but apparently they may be nerfed into apocolypse games.

anyway back on topic. i may have missed it in the batrep, but where did you come and what were the army lsits or the top 3?

thanks

Top 10 were;

Eldar

Chaos marines

Orks

Space marines

Nightrunner finished 34th I believe.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge the competitiveness of the lists antique_nova. The Uk GT attracts all kinds of armies and part of it is who you get drawn against but moreso how they use the army. A great many people know the net-lists that get complained about and choose something that counters it whilst using something different. (Or they use the net-list because it tends to be easy to use.) So that chaos marine list is actually pretty good against mech eldar or lash oblits for example. Masses of bodies making the anti-tank firepower of the eldar far less threatening but plenty of lascannons to stop those eldar tanks flying around freely. The huge number of bodies also makes it difficult to approach as even if they kill one unit there's another close by. Against the lash it comes down more to those lascannons popping the oblits quickly and his own monsters being good counter-attack units. (Last thing a daemon prince wants is to face a greater daemon after having thought it was a simple marine unit.) Mobility isn't such an issue for foot sloggers since everyone can run. A foot slogging unit can cover ground pretty quickly if it wants to.

Come on Nightrunner, one more report to go. B)

Darkangeldentist, i worked out all that right away. but that army lacks one thing and one thing only. mobility, it will struggle a heck of alot against gun liners and anything entrenched.

If you opponent doesn't lack CC hard hitters, alot of AP guns and pie paltes then yes it doesn't matter or templates if it's against hordes.

Fair enough but please don't be so sweeping in your statements if you already know why the army is designed the way it is.

Mobility with foot sloggers is much better now that everyone can run.

sorry i am still getting used to non sweeping statements, because i am competitive as chuck norris being a god ^^. I am also used to talking to a group of people who want to be as competitive as possible, so they don't mind the comments as much as others, so it's hard to re-adjust out of that mind set.

i hope by next codex you mean the one after Nids :tu:

anyway, i also heard it would be another Marine variety...... Blood Angles, or Dark Angels, or possibley a mix......

but it should be Necrons and Dark Eldar..... how many do they do in a year about 3/4 isn't it? every 3/4 months roughly?

actually was Orks this year? or last, all i know for certain, it was Space Wolves and Guard this year......
