COMPLETED! thanks for all your help and comments guys!!

Hi Guys, took a bit longer than I thought it would, but for virtually the only tank in my army I'm fairly pleased B) Please let me know if you think it works!

Thanks guys!

A couple of 'overcomes' for me: using transfers (I normally hand paint everything, I was trying to speed things up, it didn't! but I like the crisp effect!)

Weathering without powders etc. I'm very resource limited up here in Aberystwyth! So I was restricted to the foundation paints, some game colours, a few standard citadels, and Klear floor polish ;)

UPDATE:

hi all, just did a tad more before bed, tracks are waiting to be stuck on, and decided the name scroll was what was missing. I need some way to 'kill' the edges of the transfers (the odd off-colour area arounf them). I've been thinking a good coat of varnish might do this for me? any ideas? (they already have a layer of fixing-varnish to stop em coming off).

Anyway...

Its tricksy and not quick, but I like it [quicker to hand paint it!])

------------------------------

UPDATE:

Hi all! just another quick update, not had chance to do much, just more transfers, and a bit of light weathering (thats hard to see!) didn't want to do much til all transfers on, so that they don't look daft!

So still pretty basic at this point, but I've tried to make the tank markings make sense (the tanks name will be thunder-axe or similar, suggestions please!), the skulls are there to be, well, scary! to the enemy.

I'm just now debating what colour to paint the 3d details, and whether to add the 'name scroll' to the front....

thanks all!!

----------------

Update: Well, once again painting when I should have gone to bed! Quick updated, and foronce, the chassis didn't need to be glued to the roof! it just all slotted and stuck!

I'll be weathering that beaten grey down, applying damage etc ;) I'm pleased with the transfers, what do you think? I'll do a bit of work on the haz stripes just to get the look I'm after...

Comments appreciated as always!!

--------------------------------

Update:

Well I went for yellow in the end B) I think'll look good next to the grey, just started weathering it, and will add transfers etc (as I'm experimenting with them - i.e. over coming fear of). Cheers!

Hi all!

Well, I usually shy away from assault cannons, but seeing as I only have 1 (dreadnought) in my army so far, and that I thought it would look really cool, I opted for the very expensive razor back option :P Early stages so far, but any ideas appreciated!!

Thanks guys!!

Looking pretty funky!

I've finally passed the threshold of using Rhinos so it's just the Razorback or Land Raider for me.

I'm not sure about Blood Claw packs in them though, seems a little small.

But they complement a Grey Hunter pack perfectly, if you throw a storm bolter on you're effectively losing a single marine for four twin linked shots at higher strength and lower AP. Worthwhile trade IMO.

Glad to see it looks good!

Let us know hoe the Claws perform in it!

Will do cheers guys!

The claws inside are really just a distraction force (the 'fluff' limits I've set for my army is that its been on campaign, and returned bloody, but un broken, but with more vets/grey hunters than blood claws (attrition, promotion) and I use a minimum of 2 dev squads (gunnar red moon)).

Cheers!

I'm also thinking of painting the 'roof' 'H' section red and the body work grey, to break up the tank (i.e. I don'y want a grey 'box' and not a massive fan of 'dag' marks on a tank)... any thoughts?

Thanks! :D

Its just black, 2 thinned coats of Iyanden/add in dheneb stone for highlight/add in a little skull white/special wash (Klear floor polish+Iyanden+liquid golden yellow+water), apply lightly, rehighlight, ad a bit of direct shading by adding bestial brown to the wash mix :)

Thanks!

Use a decal setting solution, like Micro Set/Sol that dissolves the backing layer of the decal. It'll kill the edge and make the decal look like it's been painted on. It may take several applications of Micro Sol to get the edge to disappear completely.
Testors makes a liquid called Dull Cote which can also be used (prior to varnish/clear coat applications) that can/will dull the appearance of shiny bits and can be applied to decal sets as well. Your local Hobby or Model shop should have it. The best trick is the one mentioned about the Decal setting solution, but after applied, the Dull Cote can minimize the shiny effect. Short of that, using a matte clear coat will be your last resort. Even using a Satin clear coat first, then using the Matte afterwards to dull the complexion to proper levels.
