SJumppanen
Hi guys i am a newbie,i am just wondering, what do you think of 3 - 10 Wolf Guard Pack with Jump Pack n Storm Bolter ??? i think they will great at supporting any friendlies which need help, since they have the mobility n firepower Thx Too expensive and/or fragile for what it would do. Long Fangs would do beter with HBs and are IIRC cheaper. Grey Mage
Lets see... 48pts a model for a pair of 36" range *sorta* bolter shots? While its a cool idea in theory, Im thinking this one is a dud. On the other hand... 10 footslogging WG with stormbolters is a mere 230pts, and puts out 20 bolter shots a turn.... throw in a powerfist and youve got a decently priced fire support unit. I still dont think Id run it often, as it doesnt do anything GHs couldnt, but it is cool. Edit: Note- The main problem is the 25pts a peice for a Jump Pack... the price is outrageous, and a bit over the top. This kills most ideas of using WG with JPs for any reason. ironking
If you love the idea of Jump troops (which I do) take a set of 5 skyclaws (aka airwolves ©TM) give them melta, MotW, Power weapon / fist and either a wolfpriest or wolfguard with jump pack to lead them. The rest of your WG should be in a rhino or razorback for mobility! (ps im new to actually playing 40k [3 games thus far] and very new to wolves - this is what I have learned from other wolf players) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186153-wolf-guard-pack-with-jump-pack-n-storm-bolter/#findComment-2201115 Share on other sites

stinkenheim
think he meant wolfguard battle leader but as grey mage said, the WG jump pack units are far too expensive. you would need storm shields to improve their survivability to help them get their poitns back but obviously that then increases it further. then with no power weapons you are hoping to do damage with shooting which would work against light infantry forces (guard/nids/orks) but against MEQ it would struggle to make an impact. The thing is, a Storm Shield only helps against low AP weapons that ignore your armour; otherwise all that you are doing is turning a 48 point model into a 63 point model that dies just as easily to lasgun fire as a 15 point Grey Hunter. The idea is fine, but we can't efficiently pull it off. stinkenheim
i was thinking more against heavy weaponry, as most small arms fire would be close range, and with the manouverability of jump packs, plus a decent screen (think rhino or something) you should be able to avoid the majority of it.
