Spacefrisian
I have 10 of these lying around and had hoped that GW would inlcude them in the Dex. But they didn't. So i was thinking what to make of them, what are you using them for? My ideas: As Bloodclaws or As Thunderwolf Cavalry (no official model yet so its an option) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186157-using-my-old-wulfen-models/ Share on other sites
GunnerRed
why dont you use them for models that have the mark of the wulfen? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186157-using-my-old-wulfen-models/#findComment-2201297 Share on other sites
nurglespuss
When you say 'as thunder wolf cavalry' do you mean to represent the mount AND the rider? lol, those are nice modelx, but they are pretty small! I would say why not use one as a lone wolf with rending, or as you said, a crazy unit of bloodclaws (or sky claws...) Spacefrisian
why dont you use them for models that have the mark of the wulfen? I dont want to remark every unit to include a MOTW model in each one, that is no option. @Nurglepuss: As i said their are no official models and i think Fluff wise they fit the entire TW cavalry thing, I have Wolfguard wich i use as Lonewolves if i want to. I doubt i will be using Lonewolves as we use Victory points here. That will be a waste of points. There are no official models for thunderwolves, but how can something the size/base size of a wolfen represent a large cavalry model? it doesn't equate... I've got no problem with the wolf guard/lone wolf usage, that makes sense, but I think it would be pushing it to use a wolfen as a thunderwolf rider. stinkenheim
i think mounting a couple of wulfen onto a larger base to represent TWC is a good idea. if people are complaining about the height of the model make it a scenic base but its hard to judge how high it should be as the only TW model is canis and his wolf is meant to be the largets of its kind. I wouldn't have an issue with you using this though, as it is a clever idea and fits pretty well with what wulfen are like in the fluff, the rules for TWC are a fair representation. nurglespuss
Now if you mounted 3 on a base, rampaging over secnery (like that shown with the plastic gene stealers in space hulk latest edition) I think that would look very cool, and would represent thunderwolves pretty well. Just not singly. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186157-using-my-old-wulfen-models/#findComment-2201506 Share on other sites
stinkenheim
i think most people who have put forward the idea of wulfen as TWC imagine using probably two models on a larger base (1 model per wound) so i assume the OP was considering the same thing. i may be wrong in that assumption though. nurglespuss
Yep, assumption is a dangerous thing :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186157-using-my-old-wulfen-models/#findComment-2201534 Share on other sites
Spacefrisian
Nope 1 model per base. But the bigger/higer base might seem a good option. rodgambit
I'm actually doing something like that now. I was building a 13th Co. two years ago before I stopped playing and I just recently got back into things. I decided to just stick with my 13th and use the new dex. I use a wolfen model in my grey slayers(hunters) pack to represent the MotW model and I plan on using 10 of them (2 per large base and wound) to represent a total of 5 TWC. The few extra I have will probably be lone wolves with MotW and even a scout with melta gun+MotW (convert the bolt pistol to a melta pistol). waaanial00
What about one Wulfen riding on the back of another? Or is this going a little far? Maybe my own comic line is different to your own.
