Wolf Guard Termies and Sweeping Advance

Wolf Lord Jukes

Recommended Posts

So, when I look at taking wolf guard to add on to my squads (be they grey hunter or BC) I find it very hard to give them terminator armor purely because sweeping advance, to me, is such a big deal. Letting a squad run away just isn't worth the additional protection to one model.

However, many posts on here speak of it as an automatic choice if going for two wolf claws or the like, and I'm just wondering if I'm the only one who really cares about sweeping advance, or if perhaps there are those who "forget" that if a single model has terminator armor in the unit, then the whole unit cannot sweeping advance? (read under terminator armor in our codex)

Your thoughts on this are much appreciated, as right now I'm in too much of a quandary over it :D

Let them run away. Then follow them so they can't regroup.

SA just means you give your opponent more options to rally and suffer No Retreat. SA is only really useful versus Necrons. :D

(Obviously this is focused at Marine Armies, or those who have some variation of ATSKNF to the like to stop them being destoyed by a SA)

I myself love the advantage of sweeping advance, I have had a dreadnought wipe out twenty two hormagaunts in a sweeping advance move once, he only killed two of the critters before running the rest down.

Also most of my packs are mobile, after all armour is the theme of my lord. No terminators in Razorbacks I'm afraid. I have been considering adding a couple to my static fire support packs in apocalypse and possibly a cyclone armed individual to my Long Fang pack at Great Company level, then again Long Fangs should never be involved in an assault. :D

I'm not a big fan of giving it up for my more aggressive packs though, if someone flees I don't want to risk them rallying and want that killpoint ASAP but do not want to assault it again, unless it would be the only thing in range to stop me getting shot to pieces.
