Honor Markings

I have one Grey Hunter from each pack with a honor marking. Usually its the model I give a power fist to as I figure that wielding such a powerful weapon he had distinguished himself in a battle and then been granted the right to wield it as well as earning his honor marking. I was wondering how many of you use them and how often in a squad? Does that model you give an honor marking denote it as special to you and what to you think of the practice in general. I think they're a great way to fluff up your army cause you really start to think what has he done to deserve such a mark? Anyway thought it would be a fun question.

I use honor markings quite a bit. To use my Wolf Lord as an example of what earns markings, and what the markings detail:

Wolf Lord T'lash

*Four sets of three claw marks on his bike: Bringing down 7 Carnifex-i and 2 Hive Tyrants in one game.

*Seven bullet-holes in a string along the front of his bike: Taking 3 rounds of 6000 points worth of Necron shooting and not taking a wound.

*Three diagonal, scarlet face-paint streaks: Killing half of a 2250 point Khorne list by himself

*Lightning-streaked ebon blade: Taking down a Nightbringer in one round of combat, solo.

*Scarring on the left side of his face: Taking down another Nightbringer in one round of combat, solo, taking a wound but killing off about 900 points of enemy Nids in the explosion

*Shimmering belt: Taking two turns of 2250 Salamanders shooting, passing more Invulnerable saves against Meltas than I care to ever take again.

*Adamantine Bike: Saving 81 2+ armor saves and not taking a single wound, all at once.

Those are the ones I can remember off the top of my head. I'm sure if I looked at the model again, I could give you more.

* DEEP head scar: Getting back up four consecutive times, thanks to Bionics, back in the day.

Okay, that's all, I swear.

//nice, decoy! just how the hell did he manage to kill 7 fexes and 2 tyrants in a single game?

I have actually been thinking of giving those honour markings to my units that were particularly successful in the previous game so it would preserve the glorious memory. I'll definitely take lots of inspiration from Decoy here. But, due to my very low "games played" count, I still don't have any of those.

For some reason, they just kept assaulting me. You'd think the guy would learn after the first 3 fexes, but nope. I'd assault my turn, he'd assault his, et cetera, back and forth.

Trust me, mate. When you've played as many games as I have, every miniature eventually has their own saga. It's a good idea, fun, fluffy, and gives every model some flair.
