The Normish
Introducing Doom Guard Second Company Captain Vars Uller! He's made entirely from bitz from the Space Marine Battleforce and Assault on Black Reach boxes. Tell me what you think (not painted yet). I'll get some better pictures up when my camera recharges. jester_prince
He sort of looks like hes tripping over backwards, otherwise hes nice, nice choice of parts. IronDuke
Got to agree with jester prince tbh. It looks to me like the Captain of the 3rd Company bet him he couldn't do the limbo in full battle armour... Also, is a melta a legit weapon choice for a captain? Possibly swap it for a combi? Other than that, its a very nice kitbash :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186265-captain-varas-uller/#findComment-2202597 Share on other sites
The Normish
Actually, this model comes with a story... Captain Uller was fighting the forces of Chaos on Ulwax Sanctorum (fictional), and while in urban combat, he encountered a Defiler. Ordering his squad to take cover, Uller started stepping backwards, but then slipped on a shield! As he fell, he pulled the trigger on the Melta-gun, which hit the Defiler right in its most vulnerable point (I'm guessing the head), destroying it entirely. I chose this story because I have a find who harasses me with Defilers in Dawn of War. This is sort of payback. I'll get some better pictures soon. What do you think about the way the axe is positioned. It may be obstructing his face, but I think it's OK. Blue Orphen
It's all well and good to have a story for your model...but a Captain cannot legally have a meltagun. Keep that in mind if you want to actually use him in a game. He can have a combi-melta (a bolter with one-shot meltagun attached) though, so give him a bolter somewhere and you should be all set! =) On a side note, standard-"pattern" Defilers don't have a head, and are daemonically-possessed machines. However, they should have some sort of "reactor"/power source, which would be a much better place for the Captain's lucky shot to hit. I always assumed that was where the daemonic energies were. Shooting it would release the entity, would it not? http://www.fantasyshop.gr/gallery/40k-chaos-defiler.gif I should probably convert him to have a combi-bolter/melta... sword brethren
i would think shooting that would blind the beast but not bring it down, maybe he shot the ammo storage for the battle cannon, big boom! not a dignified thing for a captain to do but if you make him look proud as he does it rather than foolish i think it will be ok, maybe taking cover from the blast from the daemon infested machine Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186265-captain-varas-uller/#findComment-2202942 Share on other sites
The Normish
Yes. I am working on making him look more heroic. I have a shortage of bitz though.
