Stormwulf133
A Dark Angel friend of mine was arguing with me about the ending of this story. In one version I swear it said once they reached Terra, The Lion stabbed Russ through the heart, and then realizing what he had done, fell to his knees and begged forgiveness. Does anyone know where I can find this version of the story? I am tired of going through this pile of old books and WD mags. Marshal Wilhelm
Angels of Death 2nd ed. Codex: Horus and Lion achieved more victories than Russ, Russ found this exasperating. Durath called Russ the Emperor's puppy. Russ commanded Lion the stand down but he did not. Lion stormed the Citadel and killed Durath, Russ was stuck below only to watch on. Russ struck Lion. They fought. Russ was stronger but Lion faster and so an even match. Russ laughs and Lion ko's him Russ swears vengeance. SW Codex. 2nd ed. SW maintain it was DA who started the feud. Lion broke ranks suddenly, SW suffered in the counter attack. More galling to the prideful Russ was the fact that the DA swept all before them and easily won the battle. Russ set about Lion. They fought to a standstill. They swear vengeance on one another. They become great friends but pride will not allow them to cease the duels. After the Primarchs die the Chapters slowly grow apart. I think it is in Dark Angels Codex. 4th ed..... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186284-the-lion-and-the-wolf/#findComment-2203037 Share on other sites

Yes I remember this version you are referring to , but I can't remember in which book. It is just after the enthronement of the Emperor. Russ and Johnson argue on how to continue the war on the traitors but disagree. Then Jonson in his frustration stubs Russ through the heart. Overcome by grief and shame for such a cowardly act he remains by Russ side until Russ recovers. Or something in this vein. I will look it up and give you the exact reference. Edit: What I know for sure that it is in a pre-3rd edition publication. Terrahawk
Maybe this FAQ will be of assistance? :) So the story you seek can be found in WD UK #233, pages 20-21. Silent Shadow
After the Primarchs die the Chapters slowly grow apart. Russ is still out there thank you very much. And so is the Lion since he's currently in stasis in the middle of the Rock. But only the Watchers of the Dark know  . Prophecy
Russ is still out there thank you very much. Damn straight. And so is the Lion since he's currently in stasis in the middle of the Rock. But only the Watchers of the Dark know  . For that matter, isn't Cypher technically down there too? Edit: What I know for sure that it is in a pre-3rd edition publication. Not cowardly. Not that you're biased. ;) May 1999. That is 3rd. ed. Maybe this FAQ will be of assistance? :) So the story you seek can be found in WD UK #233, pages 20-21. Thanks Terrahawk. I would have never looked there. Yes they're both alive. Sorry, I forgot. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186284-the-lion-and-the-wolf/#findComment-2203254 Share on other sites
Marshal Wilhelm
For that matter, isn't Cypher technically down there too? Cypher is the hooded guy with a bolt pistol and a plasma pistol and "some mysterious sword". He is slowly making his way to Terra. DA are trying to capture him. Ah. Probably....err...which one is he again? Luther was Lion's right hand man. Luther was sent back to Caliban whilst Lion carried on with the Great Crusade. Luther felt cheated and rebelled. He is stuck in the Rock and craves Lion's forgiveness. He seems quite insane. I think Black Library have fiddle with that story though.... Terrahawk
No problem Marshal_Wilhelm. :) My memory seems to be geared towards remembering obscure things like that... now only if I could sometimes remember something useful. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186284-the-lion-and-the-wolf/#findComment-2203498 Share on other sites

Oh yes, I'm very biased, Marshal_Wilhelm, especially when it comes to Space Wolves. I can't let our arch-rivals get off so easily! So 'cowardly' it is. :) Your right about WD233, that's 3rd, but I read this account in a GW publication that pre-dates this. I'm still looking for it. I'll get back when I find it.
