Iron Father Ferrum
I'm about halfway through The Outcast Dead, and there is a step-by-step walk-through of someone's path from Italy to the Himalayas, where the Palace is located. So I think that settles that issue. Well, seeing the Palace stretches from England to Burma as already stated, that doesn't settle the issue. I doubt that it is really THAT big. It'd be impossible to defend something that size, even with the entirety of two Astartes Legions. And if that were true, well, its a much shorter route from Italy to Germany or Britain than it is to the Himalayas, so why bother making the trip that cuts across Russia and the -stan countries? One way or the other would get you to the Palace, right? Besides, there have been references to Britain -- the hive city of L'Undone (London) in Prospero Burns -- so if the Palace encompasses the Isles, then why would they talk about a hive there? Wouldn't they have just torn it down and built the Palace over top of it? Everyone is going to take their own interpretations away from the series, for sure, but for me, the descriptions we get from The Lightning Tower, Amon Tauromachian's Blood Game from Tales of Heresy, and now from [/i]The Outcast Dead[/i] gives me the impression that the heart of the Palace is a planed-out Mount Everest, with the rest of the "building" stretching out down the slopes of the Himalayas in all directions, effectively covering large swathes of modern-day India and China, with the western reaches of it also running down the Hindu Kush into Pakistan and Afghanistan. But again, that's just me. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186334-ancient-terra/page/7/#findComment-2910255 Share on other sites

But again, that's just me. I think the loyalists were content to defend the Inner Sanctum of the Imperial Palace and leave the rest to the traitors. Certainly, the Eternity Gate is the entryway to the Inner Sanctum, and it was here that Sanguinius broke Ka'Banha's spine. Calgar 2.0
In Prospero Burns, on Page 237, the (A)Merican Dustbowl is mentioned. There is also a poem from the Lexington and Concorde Monument: By the rude bridge that arched the flood, Their flag to April's breeze unfurled; Here once the embattled farmers stood, And fired the shot heard 'round the world. It seems the monument was destroyed, as Ahriman remembers reading it somewhere else, and he remembered it as being transcribed from a monument that "marked the beginning of an ancient and awesomely destructive war". I like how Ahriman describes it as "awesomely destructive" by Astartes standards, when in reality it pales in comparison even to modern wars and mediaeval Chinese fighting. Heru2012
Exactly, is it Garro or Iacton Qruze that is stated as being from Albion, and combined with L'Undone Hive, it seems like britain is just another place. As for the the palace, I think in the Outcast Dead, Nagasena when painting is described as when looking out from his tower he can see the palace through both the north and east windows. Which I'm guessing places his tower in India. As for the Astronomican, or at least where the psykers are taken to be plugged in is I belive to be described as the biggest mountain. Balls, just re read that bit, his tower is on the west face of Cho Oyu, the Turquoise goddess. It says the Hollow Mountain is in good view of his tower, which is strange because being on the western flank, east would mean looking at Cho Oyu, so I assume he is near the summit. Now there are 2 mountains east of Cho Oyu, on being Gyachung Kang, and behind it stands Everest. So that makes me believe The Hollow Mountain is one of these. Looking out, the northern window and the eastern window show the Imperial Palace, so that would place at least part of the palace situated most likely on the tibetan plateau. A few places/people/bits from Outcast Dead Terai-Duar: Grasslands in the Himalayas Uttarakhand: A state in northern india. Uttar Pradesh: A state in India south of Uttarakhand. Bhramaputra Valley: Bhramaputra is a river that runs through Bangladesh. Bhabhar: Is the region south of the Lower Himalayas Mohan Pass: Pass in the youngest and southern most area of the Himalayas. Mohabharat Lekh: Mohabharat Lekh. Mountain in the Himalayas, on Google Earth it sits infront of a massive glacial valley to its south, I imagined the Gate there and wow.... First sight of the palace. Romanii: Romania Carpathian Arch: Carpathian Mountains, highest concentration in Romania, going through to Serbia, which he is described as travelling them across Serbis into the lands of the Rus. Serbis: Serbia Lands Of The Rus: Russia... Nakhdjevan: An Exclave of Azerbaijan, border onto Armenia. Aryana: Ariana. Greek/Roman general description of the area of Central Asia next to India. Indoi: India.... Nordafrik: North Afrika Kairo: Hive. Cairo, Egypt Migou: Tibetan legend, Migoi or Yeti. Rub' al Khali: One of the largest sand deserts in the world. Also known as the Empty Quarter. Arzashkun: Fortress City that was the capital of Urarta in the 9th century. The description of the psiwars and reference to Sargon of Akkad was good. There are only a few pieces of information left about him and it ties in with the described purges of history and the cognoscynths. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sargon_of_Akkad The Naked Mountain: Nanga Parbat The Great Black: Makalu Turquoise Goddess: Cho Oyu Holy Mother: Everest, Chomolungma (Tibetan) meaning Goddess mother of the snows Dhaulagiri: Earths 7th highest mountain. Gangkhar Puensum: mountain east of everest. Rakaposi, the Custodes Gaol: Mountain in northern pakistan. Khangba Marwu is sherpa for prison/jail. Right, 2 hours later and skim reading to page 299, its 3.30am...I'm done for the night but I'll continue tomorrow, just let me know if I've missed anything.
