You are going to have your work cut out when the new kit hits, regulare furioso, libby or another DC dread? You know you want too. Moriar looks excellent :tu:

Yeah ma I know haha. I am glad i have done this project though since Moriar being made from an ironclad kit will still look pretty unique  But when the new kit is out I will DEFINATELY be doing a regular BA Red Furioso to be his mild mannered (well, in comparison) tag team partner haha with both Fists and claws B)

Did a little more on this yesterday but not had the pics uploaded yet. Highlighted all the gold and silver parts and made a very ad hock drawing on 'Paint' for a potential idea for finishing the banner ^_^

I have discovered though that the blood drop shaped gem on his left arm is painted the wrong way around, so i'm going to have to do the gems again <_< But I think I can get them better anyway so should work to my advantage hehe

Home straight is finally in sight! Just small details are left really. I will have to call it a day on him then and call it finished. If I keep looking for things to improve I will never finish. Sometimes you have to learn when to stop painting a model. Maybe I can strip him down and re do the whole thing better and quicker sometime in the future when my skills have improved :D

OK took a couple of pics when the sun was coming through my living room window at 8am the other day to give a better imagine of how he looks now to the last ones I posted. Just for kicks! I will fix his gems at the weekend and do the extreme highlights ;)

And here is one of the ideas I had for his banner. My girlfriend said this is the one she liked the most...What do you guys think?

Must...Finish...Before...5th of Feb!

nice :P are those VV's or sternguards?

also m8, how do you do your gems? been looking for a method to paint my own but my search-fu is weak :(

The ones on the tray are a combination of the old metal Veterans box and Sternguard vets...I have the WIP of those up around here somewhere but I'm sure you have seen them.

Gems are pretty straight forward once you understand the concept that the highlights go the 'wrong' way around.

If for example its a green gem (which I think looks best against red) the method is as follows.

- Black basecoat

- Watered down DA Green. Apply this to the LOWER half of the gem. Leaving some black in the highest edge, closest to your light souce.

- Layer the green up so strongest green area is opposite your light source.

- Next do the same with snot green again watered down, so the colours blend together, dont dover the DA green completely, apply it heaviest in the area opposite your light source

- same again with Scorpion green, again stongest green is opposite your light soure.

- Then in the darkest area, you add a tiny spot of white to simulate the reflected light source.

It's pretty straight forward really, taken right from GW but if you keep your paints thin and can really follow the shape of the gem with practice the look very convincing!

  • 2 weeks later...

I really planned on painting some of this guy today but really I'm very tired. Late nights gigging...Collateral damage. Once I have woken up I will do some a bit later but I thought I'd take advantage of the sun being out and get a new photo thats a bit more true to life:

hes not done yet?

haha, the amound of people who have said he is finished does amuse me ^_^ really, yeah I could call him done. But I have a few extreme highlights to do, the name plate and his banner B)

And a bit of drybrushing on the pipe pieces... But yeah, other than that he well be good to go. A days work really. I may get into the pipes and the pleacement of the blood drops on the banner in an hour or so after a cup of tea ^_^
