Ragnar Blood Giver
as above... had myself a battle last night against my brother's DA army (me vs ragnar the great..) but not based on rounds, but on time.. we used a chess clock, which meant that when he finished his moves, and I finished we pushed each each others timer.. that way we forgo the round system and let our troops fight, but we only had 2 hours each. has anyone played this type of game? althought I lost it was because of my experiance, and I had to keep refering to the dex, when their was a dispute all we did was hit the middle timer and stop the count down, till we resolved the dispute.. although I lost vs the DA it was simply because of my inexperiance as a WH player as I had to keep refering to the rule books. but next week 4 of us will be fighting ahainst each other using chess timers. so I was just woundering if others had played this way and developed any rules.. many thanks... Spacefrisian
We used something similar at our gaming club for apocalypse. In that i mean we used a timer but then for movement/ shooting/ assault seperately. WG Vrox
Yep, I always thought that tournements should be played with a clock. I came up with some rules a while ago that you might want to try blood, You take the amount of time you want to play in such as 2 hours so each of you get 1 hour of game time. Then after you do placement you take your hour and write down how much time you want to use in each turn Such as Turn 1 15 min Turn 2 15 Turn 3 12 Turn 4 9 Turn 5 6 Turn 6 3 Then after you write them down you give them to your opponent and start turn 1, your opponent times your turn, dice down on buzzer. Then starts his turn and he gets the amount of time he wrote down. Back and forth till game over. Give it a try next time, puts a whole different feel on the game also makes ya fast for practice in tourney play. Vrox. Coverfire
so in the assault phase assault that hadn't been completed in the time allowed would be left until the next turn? so all one would have to do is drag out the shooting phase during their turn to run out of time in the assault phase? Ragnar Blood Giver
agreed and by russ's big... boot I would have givern him a kick in the shin so hard if he had tried that, but the fact was I was using more time as I had to refer to the dex more than him. but generally after 1 hr you have an idea what way it was going. most defantly for the experianced players, but as he said it's a sure way to messure your progress in learning the rules. and it was only for fun, any disputes all u had to do was hit the middle stopper, which stopped both clocks.
