wizard12
just wondering as I recently heard a rumor that the IG may be getting plasic stormtroopers and I always fancied an army of storm troopers mounted in iquisitor valkyries being led by cortez in a valk. On the IA rules it says an inquisitor valkyrie is "a transport option for an inquisitor and his retinue or inquisitorial storm troopers" this also raises the question, can inquisitor lords use the inquisitor valkyrie. seems a bit odd if he can't. thanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186557-is-cortez-an-inquisitor-lord/ Share on other sites
Kabbala
I would imagine that you would need your opponents permission to use the IA inquisitor's Valkyrie, just as you would for anything else in the IA books Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186557-is-cortez-an-inquisitor-lord/#findComment-2206135 Share on other sites
wizard12
no I'm asking that if you had already had permision to use IA stuff would you be able to use him in it due to the exact wording of the rules Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186557-is-cortez-an-inquisitor-lord/#findComment-2206165 Share on other sites
Eddie Orlock
no I'm asking that if you had already had permision to use IA stuff would you be able to use him in it due to the exact wording of the rulesWhat kind of pedantic environment do you play in where you'd be allowed Imperial Armour but people would question the fact that Inquisitor Coteaz is an Inquisitor? Aside, the last sentence of his High Protector of the Fromosa Sector rule specifically allows him to select a transport option. You would have known this if you'd read your codex before rashly jumping online. I understand what you mean - I did a double-take on the Wargear page of C:DH because I thought I couldn't give something to a GKT BC because one entry says "Grey Knight Heroes only" and another "Grey Knights Only" I thank as long as he's an "Inquisitor", as Eddie Orlock said, you'll be fine. MR. jeffersonian000
Well, an Inquisitor Lord is an Inquisitor, so yes, he would be able to take an Inquisitorial Valkyrie without issues as long as IA units are allowed. Karitas
Well there's a pedantic environment and theres there just plain dumb - by accident of birth or sheer self-serving wilfullness. It's all about the concept-set that any given word encomapsses. "inquisitor" encompasses all inquisitors, be they junior, senoir, lord, male female etc. "Inquisitor lord" defines this to a subset of "inquisitor" same with the Grey Knight example. or with "Cows" and "Brown cows" Unless a specific exclusion is made a Grey knight hero is still a grey knight, and inquisitor lors is still an inquisitor, and a brown cow, Ladies and gentlemen, is still a Brown cow. :P hell that's my take on it, and I cant really see much of an opening to argue against it, semantically at least. Grand Master Tyrak
Coteaz counts as an Inquisitor for the purposes of taking a retinue (and receiving the stat boosts from them), so it's safe to assume he counts as an Inquisitor for selecting other options. EDIT - I just came across this little gem in the DH FAQ : Special CharactersQ. Do Coteaz and Stern count towards the 0-1 limitation for their respective HQ choices? A. No they do not. How can this question arise if Coteaz is not an Inquisitor Lord? Similarly, how could he be exempted from a rule that doesn't apply to him? Indeed so and well met, but trust me I've had an argument with someone before - there is no limit to things opponents will pull out of a hat. MR.
