Fulgrim's Swords

As stated horus and fulgrim are very close.

He couldn't give it to angron who would probably try and take over.

Magnus isn't really in the picture or trusted at that point.

Mort is just too distant, and unkown.

Alpharius is to mystical to, you never know what hes thinking.

If you gave it to night haunter, well you would be an idiot, same with pert. Its like trusting the insane.

I wonder why horus would feel the need to give it away in the first place.

Why not collect swords? I mean Sanguinus and Fulgrim both collected art, which is useless to the warrior, because it pleased them. Fulgrim's ship was as much as a floating art gallery as a warship of the astartes. He collected swords because he felt like it.

Very well said. Why do we collect little metal and plastic army men? Because we damn well want to.

I thought Horus gave him the sword because he knew he would end up fighting other primarchs and the sword would help. I don't have a copy of fulgrim nearby... but which sword did he ultimately use to kill Ferrus?

It was the Laeran/daemon sword... or the hammer he forged. Ferrus had the Fireblade.

a ) Ferrus Manus crafts Fireblade for him

b ) he takes the Laeran Daemon Blade, which starts corrupting him

c ) Horus gives him the Kinebrach Anathame sword which Erebus stole

So now Fulgrim has 3 swords. I dunno...isn't that a bit much? Just seems strange to me that he would have a sword collection...especially since Fireblade and the Kinebrach Anathame stop featuring and are virtually forgotten.

Well Fulgrim's Fireblade gets destroyed. The (no longer daemon possessed) Laeran blade eventually ends up in Lucius' possession. And isn't the Kinebrach Anathame sword reclaimed by Fulgrim? who then defeats Guilliman with it.

So while he may have an odd collection, it isn't a permanent collection, he started with the Fireblade (destroyed), found the Laeran Daemon Blade (given away) and was then gifted the Kinebrach Anathame sword from Horus (out of the 3, the only one he kept). Also why can't Primarchs have more than one weapon?

It was the blade, since it took over his body and I personally think decapitating someone with a hammer would be quite tricky :P.

And needless to say messy ^_^

(Hello, by the way :D )

I was actually a little sad when Fulgrim decapitated poor Ferrus' head. But yeah, Fulgrim had 3 swords at one point, and I don't see any reason not to.

Heck, if I were a primarch, I probably would've had lots of swords and shooty weapons ( I always do in various games :))

And now hes has 4 arms, with 3 swords and 1 whip (I didn't know this until I read this topic :D), no prob!

(also, welcome to the bolter and chainsword, Aquilanus. I've been here for a few days, and not as much as a little "greetings brother" :P)

Fireblade: A gift which he wears and wields later out of politeness and tact, until it is destroyed.

Laeran Sword: A curious 'alien' :P sword which he was drawn to because of what resides in it.

Anathame: A gift from Horus, a gesture of his trust.

I really don't see the big deal in having three swords. Hell, didn't Angron wield Gorefather and Gorechild together for some time, and two swords at other times?

Fireblade: A gift which he wears and wields later out of politeness and tact,

Wait, what? He was given it by his closest brother; its a constant reminder of that, and his brotherly love for him. Certainly not because he wnated to be polite.

I'm currently reading Fulgrim, and I got the distinct impression that he switches back to Fireblade once he has the Laeran Blade only for his meetings with Ferrus Manus.

"Fulgrim smiled and placed his hand on Fireblade's golden pommel. He deemed it impolitic to come before Ferrus without the sword his brother had forged beneath Mount Narodnya over two centuries ago, but he felt the absence of his silver blade keenly."

I know German but no Swedish/Norwegian... but you're saying something like "...hope you had a funny (or good?) Christmas and will have a good new year." How come you know Scandinavian languages if you're from Australia?

The vox-logicians ran a translation simulation for me ;)

ToggleText is the translator program I used. I don't know Norwegian at all. Looking at the translation and knowing what I had written does let me pick out words though.

After bjørn eirik said he hadn't been welcomed yet, I thought to make amends and pratice some kind of hospitality. :)

Notice - this is after the sword corrupted him, before that he did it for the reasons I stated.

Oh, I know.

Ok, just making sure everything was correct. Didn't want Pre heresy Fulgrim (who is tied with Sanguinius and Ferrus Mannus for number one primarch in my opinion) too have been downplayed, he was truly noble and loving to his brothers. The Keeper of Secrets ate his soul though, truly a pity.
