New plastic TWC

I was going to buy them, until the Fenris Wolf from Hammer of Thor Heroclix came out. That beast is a beauty, and it is around $5.00 each, where this one is $22.00. Ouch! I could buy Canis for $35 on ebay.

The Fenris Wolf from Heroclix is dead on. I am actually cutting them up and repostioning them now. I ordered some last week and got them Yesterday. I will post some pics when I have something to show.

Now if maxi mini sold the heads...that would be nice. I could use their different sculpted heads to vary up my Fenris wolves.

What do you think?

I will buy at last a few of them and try them out.

I don't know. He seems okay but from the pic looks a little short, especially from behind. The heads are great though. I think I'll still wait till the second wave before I spend money on a unit. I still have a lot to paint anyway. Thanks for the post.

But there is no "C" in Thunderhawk, GM. I thought he was talking about marajuana.

Yeah, I've already retype the topic :D

Wolf heads are very cool, but the boduy is a little bit odd, and twisted. Shop near me is selling their blisters, so I will see how do they look like on mine own eyes when they come out (wolfs, not eyes).

Well, I just bought one of Thor's wolves on ebay, so I will see how well they work. Thanks for the hint.

Could you post a picture with the wolf next to a space marine for comparison?

There is a photo comparison floating around somewhere, though I cannot remember which forum it was. I am thinking it was Warseer. If I can't find it today, I will post a pic tonight when I get home from work.

I can say this, the wolf is almost the same size as Fangir. I have already started converting one, by adding armor plates, a saddle, and a rider. It looks great next to Canis. They are almost the same size, with Fangir only being slightly larger.

EDIT:

Here is a photo comparison, (Not mine and I will replace it tonight with a photo of my own):

I've been told that they will be released in the second wave - seems probable given the likely sales that would follow.

I can't remember where I saw the information, but I remember there was a topic where the likelyhood of making plastic thunderwolves was addressed at the last gamesday. A GW rep said that there was no plans to release a plastic thunderwolf mount, and unless Forgeworld produced one, we were going to be out of luck.

EDIT: Ok it was on Warseer. Regarding the production of Thunderwolves: "News to us as seen as GW did go down as saying that they wouldn't be doing them and that if they was to be done FW would do it...it was asked at GD by enough people and they all came back with the same answer that they wasn't doing them. Plus indie stores have been asking about them and getting the same response a few of which post on here."

Supposedly this was on Oct 31st at Gamesday.

Don't shoot the messenger, I just relaying info I read elsewhere.

they also said that they would do a model for every entry in the new codex's and that if they didnt come in the release they would come at a later date

I don't think they know what they are doing...

On a side note, how long has Valkia the Bloody been in the chaos fantasy codex?

As for these wolves, $5.00, a large base, and a Grey Hunter. Who can argue with that as a temporary Thunderwolf? Those ones from maxmini look good, but for $22.00? Forget that.

Wow, that's one nice wolf model and for 5 dollars that's real value for money; the size is also just right from what I can tell from the pic. Thanks a million for your effort and time Lord Scythican, I owe you one.

No problem! I have been scouring every warhammer forum on the net, for a month searching for a viable miniature to use. The one from Russia that is $12.00 plus shipping is pretty good if you don't have any greenstuff skills, but if you do, the Fenris wolf is the best hands down.

The main problem with the Fenris wolf though is that it is from a new heroclix set. Hammer of Thor just came out this month, so when we all jump on ebay and buy them, the heroclix sellers are going to think this is a chase rare. I bet the price on these bad boys jumps to $10.00 each within a few weeks. I know I am buying more as soon as I get paypal funds.

Also, my wolves from Russia haven't arrived yet, but when they do I will be sure to post a comparison between Fangir, the Fenris Wolf, and the Space Thunder Wolves from Russia.

Thanks again! I'd love to see that kind of comparison. It really brings the models into perspective.

You're a true Space Wolf Lord Scythican, through and trough!

You got that right! I haven't had an army I liked so much in a long time. Space Wolves, (no matter what the haters say) have the best look I have seen.

By chance, have you seen my custom Fenrisian Wolves or my Valkyires that are counts as skyclaws? I am a major Space Wolves enthusiast!

none of them have big hairy legs like the ones in the codex pictures...... TWC in the book look more like over muscular lions plus dog like faces i think.

thanks

You are not going to get perfect by any means. The whole lion body thing could be fixed with some some green stuff and some skill. You could even fix the big hairy leg issue too.

I think i prefer the elf chariot lion conversion to many of the others - there's a distinct style to gw's style of sculpting which it seems to have that others don't. Will have two painted tonight hopefully to compare contrast

It is a very good choice, especially for the ones who have to have tourny legal ones. It fits the style of the artwork really nice. They don't match up well with Fangir though, and personally I prefer a more wolf look.
