Over the next few (insert time valuse here), I will be posting a working blog of my Iron Hands. I just recently got them back, and they are in need of a lot of re-work. I will post pics as soon as I can (I got thieves errr...kids), and show my work as of the most recent time.

Always look forward to another Iron Hands gallery.

But yeah, Look forward to seeing your work, more nerve than me, yay ;) :)

Found my camera shortly after my first post(it was in a toybox-darn thieves!! I mean kids....). so without further ado, somer of my done work, and some of my works in progress.

First up is my Commander and his Command Squad:

A Librarian:

Master of the Forge, i.e. Iron Father:

Squad of Sternguard:

My Venerable Dreadnought. This model was and is a constant work in progress. There have been parts added, taken off, painted and re-painted over the last 5 years:

Ironclad Dreadnought. This was given a Forgeworld Torso from a Mk IV dred that I had spare. I like it better than the one that comes with the kit, as it gives it a more 'fluid' and flexible look, as opposed to a Manga-Dred that it gets from the 'sarcophi-box' you get in the kit.

A Standard Dreadnought:

Now for the troops. Here are shots of the three Tactical squads I have done. There are two more that I have yet to finish. First one:

second:

and the third:

Rhinos, Drop Pod, and the Razorbacks:

Fast Attack:

Landspeeder Typhoons:

Assault Squad:

And finally the Heavy Support bits.

Devestators:

Predator:

Thunderfire Cannon and the techmarine crewman:

Of course, EVERYONE needs something to fight over right? So some objectives:

look AMAZING corton. I love the sergeants in each squad, very unique and each marine has different poses and has a lot of action in the figures. VERY dynamic! some my fave minis ive seen to be honest.

Apparently there is a cut off on the amount of pics per post....musta overlooked that one. So now for some of my W.I.P.

Vindicator:

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k222/mrscorrie/101_0081.jpg

2nd Drop Pod:

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k222/mrscorrie/101_0080.jpg

Terminators. There are five of them all painted in the coloration of the Morlocks. Here they are:

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k222/mrscorrie/101_0952.jpg

And finally a Landraider. Initially, I was against the use of heavy Armour, as I don't often see the need for it. However, I have started to see the light. Its a pity it wasn't seen earlier.

All for now.

That's the Chaos Marine Champion head with the horns lopped off, and some green putty work. As a side note, my pics suck, and I will try to get some better ones of the models in a day or two.

These have instantly become some of my personal favorite Iron Hands models. There's not a significant presence of the Chapter online, so I take what I can eagerly. :D

Your crisp and clean paint style fit the Iron Hands ideology perfectly, and the conversions look appropriate. The Commander and Sergeant of the third Tactical squad are among my favorites of the force, and your free-hand painting is very nice. I'm not a fan of overly-bionic representations, so I prefer a toned version, or something closer to your version of the Chapter. Adding gold rims to the Sternguard squad's shoulder pads is complementing, and that Venerable Dreadnought is wicked. That Dreadnought power fist is brilliant, a mirror image of the Chapter's symbol. If there's one thing that bugs me, it's the hazard markings on the Company Banner but it's nothing really, I digress.

Great models that represent the Chapter well, so hats off to you. I'll be watching for any updates, especially those Terminators. :)

The banner was a sort of 'I'm tired, its late but I wanna finish it' kinda thing. I am probably going to go back and redo it here shortly. It is kind of disappointing.

I guess that is a not-so-subtle hint that I need to get more done on my own! ;)

These look great, Cort. I'm not a big fan of the "gorilla" arms on the Ironclad (I'll be posting my own solution in a few weeks) - but yours has made those arms look pretty good.

I've been trying to keep my Iron Hands looking pretty monochromatic - but your Command Squad is starting to make me rethink that decision. They look really sharp.

I actually like the hazard stripes on the banner. It actually works for the Iron Hands, I think.

I like the subtle detail changes made here and there to give each model a unique appearance. i think I would have positioned the flamer-equipped servo-arm a bit higher so that it didn't compete with the power axe visually - but it is hard to keep that model from looking awkward anyway.

I like how you used more gold to distinguish the Sternguard from the rest of your army. When I get around to building mine, I may have to pilfer that idea.

Your squads all look good and your liberal use of FW bitz on your vehicles makes them really stand out.

Keep up the good work!

Very nice! I've recently been working on some dreads for my Iron Hands and I wish I could get power fists looking half as good as your venerable dreads. Your army has definitely reassured me that deciding to paint the weapon cases in white at a very late stage will be worth it, just wish I could paint white with less layers lol. I really need to get posting on here more, but considering I've assembled about 5 models since october it wouldn't be a busy topic lol.

If its any consolation, it usually takes me three or more coats of white to get it to look right, so don't feel bad; white sucks to paint.

I also forgot a unit I am working on; Vanguard. I have built a squad of five, and they are REALLY rough right now, but heres a shot of them as of yesterday

And a techmarine w a Plasma Cannon-armed servitor:

Well over black it took a coat of astromonican(sp?) grey followed by about 50:50 astro grey to white, then 3 layers of white. I think I might be thinning the paints too much, last time I painted white I did it far too thick so probably over compensating to avoid that.

Those Vanguard are looking great, the gold trim works well. I've worked a lot of bronze and gold bits into all my Iron Hands to break up the metallics a bit. Is the techmarine finished? The red looks a bit flat, especially compared to the really well done reds on your tabards.

I have been looking for DN power fist like this for a project I am planning. Where did you get it?

PS Is that a servo-skull I see for the DN head? If so, very nice usage.

PPS The work in progress over several years sounds like most of my army. Continually evolving. At least you have it confined to one major model.

Not all man. When I think Iron Hands, I think Bannus.

Those Vanguard look very nice too, Corton. Looking at these models again, I've wondered how exactly do you paint the freehand Clan-Company symbol? It definitely seems like one of the more difficult emblems to get down, so I suppose practice would be very beneficial.

I am a fan. I like how you have kept the bionics and modeling in check. Alot of times people over due it with the conversions. The crisp painting and attention to detail really makes these guys look great. Cant wait to see more.

Darth Potato:

I painted them freehand. Now please keep in mind that this is a psychotically quick version that I did in five minutes. They generally look a lot neater, and the circle generally doesn't look like I used 'White-Out' to paint it. So, I did a rough circle (doesn't have to be perfect; the 'cog' teeth cover the imperfections up),

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k222/mrscorrie/101_0975.jpg

then a series of lines extending outward in a circular pattern,

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k222/mrscorrie/101_0976.jpg

then trimmed the edges in black to even them out.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k222/mrscorrie/101_0978.jpg

I then went back and painted the lightning bolt first,

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k222/mrscorrie/101_0979.jpg

then the mountain at the base of it.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k222/mrscorrie/101_0980.jpg

When you paint a hundred or so, it tends to get to be 'old hat'. It was a pain when I started though I can tell you that.

AFoolProofPlan:

The helmet for the Commander is from the Dark Angels Ravenwing sprue. The bionics are from green stuff.

Commander Remiel:

The dreadnought hand on the Venerable is actually the leg from the FW venerable that it started out from. When I built the model, I was suprised to see that hollow resin can disintegrate so easily; it was awesome (little sarcasm there)! I found a few odd pieces of card and plastic sprue that I shaped into a palm for a hand, then use the antenna aray from a Tau tank (don't play the army, so I cannot remember what they are called.... :D ) to build the fingers. The curved piece on the top of the hand where it meets the gauntlet is from the bottom of an old High Elf shield. As to the head, it is actually a skull from a Vampire Counts Skeleton Warrior, with some Greenstuff added. I had to do it that was due to the fact that there were no servo-skulls readily available when the model 'came to lilfe', so to speak.

Skoby:

the techmarine is finished, my photo skills are a little on the suck side right now. I am hoping to correct this in a couple of days, as all of the pics are somewhat lacking.
