You may recall that a 6 is an automatic failure and to pass the test you must roll equal or below your initiative. MC with initiatives 5 or above can roll a 1,2,3,4 or 5 to pass, however when they roll a six they may subtract one from their result because they are an MC. So whatever they roll the end result is 5 or less. which means JOTWW will have to find something else for dinner.

 

talk about overlooking the rules.

It says a six is always a failure, that's regardless as per the rules in the 40k rule book. So if they roll a six they fail period, doesn't matter if they can subtract 1 from the roll, the same as 1 is always an auto pass in this case.

 

Yep ;) he's right. 6 is always a failure but you shouldn't really be using Jaws on I5 and above things anyway unless they are by chance in the line of fire of your intended target, In which case what the hell.

I think the rule for JOTWW is pretty clear on this situation. In the same sentence that it says MC can substract 1 from the roll it also says a 6 is an automatic failure.
