Venerable Dreadnaught WIP

I've been wanting to get a good venerable into my army recently but I didn't much like the current venerable dreadnaught, doesn't look at all wolfy enough for me. So instead I'm working on building my own proper Space Wolf Venerable Dreadnaught.

Still needs alot of work but I think you guys might like it...

Looks good to me... the AC is much more dynamic on this model than the standard, and I like the homage to the FW vendreads with the Wolf Helm.

Kinda wish Id though of this one actually lol. Looks like all you need is some GS for the WP and your set.

Looks good - I think the comments on carving the sarcophogus down are acurate as the chest sticks out a little too much. Like the assault cannon - is very nicely fitted. Chainfist may be an issue as there are rules for dreads having chain fists?

My only real gripe is the head...I really dislike it. It's a bad sculpt compared to the original metal captain one and looks just to kitch and animae rather than fierce

Looking forward to seeing it in paint

Space Wolves have no rules for a chainfist on a dreadnought, but I don't foresee anybody giving you any grief over that. Its a DCCW all the same (I mean I plan to do the same thing for my Bjorn and don't foresee anyone where I play giving it a second thought).

The torso and head seem kind of slapped on. Should be thinner and you need something on the lower portion of the torso to bring it all together.

I like the general idea of the SW assault cannon, and was about to say I love it.. but then I took a second look. The termy arm is still clearly visible and that just looks.... bad. Sorry.

The idea has plenty of potential, just needs more work. Keep at it :)

I don't really like the torso and wolf head on the front, but maybe it's because it sticks out a little too far. Perhaps it just needs to be integrated better into the rest of the dreadnought. I also agree with Rindaris that the Terminator arm shouldn't be seen.
I like it.

and considering FW have a number of ven dreads. for other chapters, none for us.

good job but ain't a ven a bit toooooo... costly 2xx pts

I had my own ven, but since the dex; LF's are more cost effective.

The forgeworld one is in the works.

I'm glad you guys like it!

Personally I thought the Wolf Guard Terminator AC looked much better then the stock Dread AC. If anything the default Dread AC was too small for me, too stocky. Plus this AC comes with all sorts of nifty Wolfy frills, such as the wolf head and the wolf charms, not to mention the belt feed, I love that thing.

I wanted some of the terminator arm to still be there so the whole thing kept an actuated feel about it, and also to make it clear that this thing was not built by the more modern, boring standards. As for the head sticking out, I do agree with what's been said, however last time I tried something like this digging into the hull of the Dread I just didn't like the way it came out at all. From personal experience I find this just looks better overall, though that could just be a reflection of my skill. ;)

As for the chain fist, it's just a basic Dread CC weapon, nothing more. I was thinking about doing a more claw like hand for more of that wolfy goodness, but I'm pretty happy with how this looks so I decided to keep it. :D

I like it.
