ItsPug
I’m planning on starting a new army of Space Marines based on the Space Wolves rules, so I thought I may as well do a WIP thread. Anyway on to the meat of the thread, my first model is going to be my commander, a counts as Bjorn the Fell Handed, built from the body of a Ironclad Dreadnought to give it a heavy armoured look with an assault cannon and DDCW. Here’s some pictures of the dreadnought assembled http://i695.photobucket.com/albums/vv312/ItsPug/Dec01.jpg http://i695.photobucket.com/albums/vv312/ItsPug/Dec02.jpg http://i695.photobucket.com/albums/vv312/ItsPug/Dec03.jpg http://i695.photobucket.com/albums/vv312/ItsPug/Dec04.jpg And here’s a couple of photos of what I managed to get painted today, the base has been painted and I’ve added the barbed wire to the base. I’ve started the legs (base coated and highlighted) and I’m thinking of putting a black stripe down the left shin guard, and using a skull as a unit designation. http://i695.photobucket.com/albums/vv312/ItsPug/Dreadnought01.jpg http://i695.photobucket.com/albums/vv312/ItsPug/Dreadnought02.jpg http://i695.photobucket.com/albums/vv312/ItsPug/Dreadnought03.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186772-dark-wardens-space-marine-wip/ Share on other sites
Rindaris
For being a Bjorn counts-as it looks rather... plain. Remember he is supposed to have Saga of Majesty plus he is the oldest dreadnought in service still, can't get more venerable then that. I'd definitely add some more detail to make it stand out as truly being worthy of that status. averykess
What material did you use for the ground cover? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186772-dark-wardens-space-marine-wip/#findComment-2208858 Share on other sites
ItsPug
Yeah he needs a bit to stand out but I've still got the banner and purity seals etc which will be added once I actually start into it. Haven't been feeling very well this last couple of days so haven't had much chance to do the painting, so unfortunately no updates as of yet. @averykess The ground cover is cut up bits of plastic sprue, covered in the fine slate ballast stuff you get in the GW basing kit (same stuff can be got from most modelling shops, I got a bag that more than filled 4 of GW's little tubs for £1.50) used the ends of a couple of cocktail sticks as the posts for the barbed wire and thats the standard stuff from GW. ThirtySixNights
Looks great, love your metallic's they look awesome, also the suttle highlights seem to work for some reason they add this dimension of realism that alot of other dreadnoughts lack. Good job, i'll be sure to follow this thread and see how your army comes along :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186772-dark-wardens-space-marine-wip/#findComment-2211701 Share on other sites
