zxyogi
Hello Brothers here are some pics of my Marines malevolent, pics taken with my moby as my main camera has gone tits up!! I have tried to make the yellow look washed out.....sort of patched up with new paint thats not an exact match.I have yet to do some battle damage. Also not sure if to do them Codex or Non codex!!! I am basing them after they got the new armour/weapons back that was taken from them by the Goody2shoes Salamander Boys. Comments please. :) http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/MM4.jpg http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/MM3.jpg http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/MM2.jpg http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/MM1.jpg Oh...the reason the decals are shiny is they are waiting for a coat of matt varnish!! Talking of which....a BIG THANKS for the Guys that designed the decals....Tubal, Shoemaker and MyNameisTudor. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186836-marines-malevolent/ Share on other sites
Brother Loring
Nice! I really like the fact you have been very strict with a 2 colour scheme - yellow and black/silver - it is very effective and gives them lots of coherency. I look forward to more updates. IronDuke
As a fellow yellow marine I know how annoying it can be to get a good yellow - these look great. As already said the limited palette works great, and the matte varnish should finish them off nicely! Cheers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186836-marines-malevolent/#findComment-2209789 Share on other sites
Rob_Loken
Very nice looking marines there. Like the others have said good work on the scheme. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186836-marines-malevolent/#findComment-2210018 Share on other sites
ShinyRhino
Nicely done. Clean and effective. Just remember that the Marines Malevolent in that story didn't get much of the armor that was on the AdMech ship. It was a drop in the bucket compared to the total inventory present. Hardly enough for a squad or two, let alone a whole company. Oh yeah.....the first Squad will be Sgt Lorkars and the other squad are from the same company so they would have benefitted from the new wargear, not all of them tho!! zxyogi
Yeah its the pics, the light was coming from all directions [took pic under kitchen cabinet, loads of spot lights]. I do have a tendency to highlight/dry brush my figures with boltgun metal to pick out the raised bits and look like general wear. Shadow Captain Corveus
The stark contrast between the black and yellow is really effective. I usually don't like yellow SMs (Sorry IFs :() but these look really good. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186836-marines-malevolent/#findComment-2221331 Share on other sites

zxyogi
My recipe for yellow?......well......lysandun yellow foundation for the base paint followed with a wash of Golden yellow then when dry a wash of Sunburst yellow. When this is dry i then go back over with a wash of Golden yellow in various places. I then highlight with a mix of sunburst yellow and white. The thing is when i paint my Malevolents i want the armour to look washed out and repainted with various non matching yellows.....cant get the same colour code when out saving mankind!! :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186836-marines-malevolent/#findComment-2223554 Share on other sites

brother varen
These are very good. Have you thought of highlighting the black areas to bring out the detail more?
