Capt. Lysander
You are doing a fantastic job with the yellow: one that all yellow Space Marine chapters would be proud of :P These are very nice, and I can see you improve with each update! Asrech
Hmm.. Looks great! The color contrast is just amazing and your yellow came out frigging good. Honestly I like them with minimal silver on the chest, to keep the high contrast up, and the shine is in my opinion a plus. And you deserve a tap on the shoulder for putting the extra effort in with the eye lenses.. me Im lucky if I get red on them ( being the lazy s**t I am hehe ). Are you planning on doing anything more with the bases? In my opinion painting the bases adds SO much to models it's worth going through the hell of doing it. Cheers! zxyogi
Thanks for the kind comments one and all!! Alex, yes the bases will be finished with a desert yellow colour. Brother Varen....these were meant to be painted my main Chapter colours,Sons of Heracles but i got bored painting purple and painted them Malevolents!!.....so by what i buy or have in the bits box. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186836-marines-malevolent/page/2/#findComment-2229088 Share on other sites
brother varen
Are you planning to build the army to the offical cannon fluff or make your own? Are you planning to add the terminator squad that captain Vinyar had aboard his ship? Are you planning to add the terminator squad that captain Vinyar had aboard his ship? cannon fluff for the Malevolents is pretty thin.....so...yeah will go along with whats been said cannon wise but add my fluff to bulk it up a bit more!! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186836-marines-malevolent/page/2/#findComment-2230078 Share on other sites
zxyogi
I really like the blotchy yellow for some reason.... its cool. Thanks Verpine!!....as previously said earlier on in the thread, the blotchiness is intentional to make the armour look worn and repaired and repainted with not the exact matching paint.......colourmatch shops hard to come across out in the deep dark recesses of the Imperium!! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186836-marines-malevolent/page/2/#findComment-2230084 Share on other sites
zxyogi
Hello.....back again!! :P Been working on an Apothacery for the Malevolents,i have been working on a different theme using MK6 Corvus armour and adapting the Mk6 beakie to take the MK7 Apoth helmet bling. The GS needs smoothing down and tidying up.....what do you think? http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/WIPapoth1.jpg http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/WIPapoth2.jpg http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/WIPapoth3.jpg Here is another Marine i have been mucking about with, tried to make it look like he is really getting some distnace with the grenade. Also undecided on the plasma gun or flamer.....thoughts? http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/WIPfrag1.jpg http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/WIPfrag2.jpg C&C welcome!! Rob_Loken
I would say the flamer personally. The plasma gun looks a bit to bulky. Good work with the Apothecary, must have been difficult. MRCHAOS
Been working on an Apothacery for the Malevolents,i have been working on a different theme using MK6 Corvus armour and adapting the Mk6 beakie to take the MK7 Apoth helmet bling. The GS needs smoothing down and tidying up.....what do you think? Once you have smoothed the GS work on it that will look realy cool, and I dont think I have seen this done before! :) On the marine throwing the grenade though, I think the arm needs to be a little less bent (not at a 90 degree angle) as to me it looks like he throws like a sissy the way you have done it, but that might just be the picture. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186836-marines-malevolent/page/2/#findComment-2234866 Share on other sites
Capt. Lysander
Yeh, I think the flamer would work more- the plasma gun may be too heavy! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186836-marines-malevolent/page/2/#findComment-2235200 Share on other sites
KP13
Yeh, I think the flamer would work more- the plasma gun may be too heavy! While it may look a bit awkward, I doubt it would be too heavy for a Space Marine! ShinyRhino
Nice Apothecary. Very cool! As for the grenade throwing Marine...I'd skip the weapon being held by the grip entirely. It looks unwieldy and off-balance. Grenades take two hands to throw. One to hold it, and one to pull the pin. You'd never have a weapon in-hand to throw a grenade, for fear of dropping it at your feet and fragging yourself. Sling that weapon, or at least put it in a hand-on-foregrip pose. smallvictory
First off, great looking models, great idea on that apothacery. A GS tip if you don't mind; you can skip the smoothing out stage completely by smoothing it out before it dries. After putting the GS where you need it dip a smooth tool (I use the rubber coated end of a file) in water, rub the GS until its glass smooth, cut off the excess with a hobby knife and then press any details into it with water covered tools. You can't use too much water, the GS doesn't absorb it. Keep posting your updates, I am looking forward to more. zxyogi
Hello Brothers....had to go a long way back through the threads to find this!! :) Anyway,a bit of an update! Have finished the Apothecery but not really happy [as always] and might do him again, happy with the yellow but not the white and the highlights on the white.Have a look and point me in the right direction please. http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/BrotherApotheceryVarrakai.jpg http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/BrotherApotheceryVarrakaiside.jpg http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/BrotherApotheceryVarrakaiclose.jpg here is Brother Nemiok, this is a character from the Salamander book,he should have a combi bolter but i could see him totting a heavy bolter as well!! http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/BrotherNemiok.jpg http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/BrotherNemiokside.jpg I have been messing about in between painting by making up some bionic implant marines and these....... http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/Plasmaweapons.jpg .......I cut out the standard coil and replaced it with a chunkier one made from copper wire, what do you reckon....i likee velly muchee, looks more buisness like! Finally....for the time being,my Tech Marine....[had a few spare coils..... :) ].......very much wip, looking at doing some more bionics on him before he is finished. http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/Techmarine.jpg http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn229/noodletoff/Bikes/WH40K/TechMarines.jpg Also waiting to be painted are some more Marines with bionics, post them when painted. Fire Lord Captain
I'm loving the coils on the plasma guns and on the Techmarine!! I also like how you've done your apocathery with the half white body. Niiice! brother varen
Well it is great to see some work from you brother :) I like the apothecary paint scheme very much. Might have to steal the idea. The coils on the plasma weapons look very good. It will be intresting to see how it looks painted. The bionics look good too. Not sure if i will include it on my marines. zxyogi, i have noticed your codex markings. Is there certain markings that you are using? And where are they being applied too? Do you have any diagrams to give me a better idea of there placement? Inquisitor Victan
The bionics look nice and bulky. I think it looks a lot better than the smaller gauge wire most people use. Nice change-up! brother varen
zxyogi, Did you use a white or black primer? Been looking into the different yellow reciepes. I want a bright yellow armour for mine. Thanks for the PM. Waiting on parts to arrive before starting project. I think you will like them. Did you remake the apothecary? I like him, think that the helmet needs some work. The bionics seem to be a little off. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/186836-marines-malevolent/page/2/#findComment-2267573 Share on other sites
