Alys Dwr Posted December 9, 2009 Share Posted December 9, 2009 Or wielding a heavy bolter with suspensor arm. I think it's a great conversion, nice thought and use of bits. My only gripe is how short his upper arm is - maybe the adition of the shoulder pad will disguise it. Just noticed, is that marine an amputee? wiplash Posted December 9, 2009 Share Posted December 9, 2009 looks great ive done some similar conversions on my bloodclaws (in terms of the way the shoulder has been cut up) now the problem i realised after was... how do you fit on a shoulderpad? have you just left him without pads? thats what i did. Havokas Posted December 10, 2009 Author Share Posted December 10, 2009 thanks for all the great comments guys. almost every suggestion i trialed but ive opted for a Sword to make it look like he's leaping into combat or to save some fellow marines Alys Dwr - Heavy Bolter would be cool but i need the weapons magnetised and thats way to much trouble if he's holding it. his leg is actually there it just faces back on the seat. (see pics) IronDuke - it was quite a complicated conversion but you definatly dont need the deepest bits-box to achive it. Sorry i cant do many good photo's i dont have the bits anymore and he's quite hard to photograph now he is glued in First take the seats which have the legs already attached, cut the legs off at the knee (only the guy your modifying) trying to keep as much of them as you can and as clean a cut as you can, then remove the "ass" of the guy which will leave a large hole i covered in a small square of plasticard. I used the Left leg and torso of an assult marine i had spare but anything will do. His leg was at a small angel perfect for putting extended into the speeders front, then i took the right leg i took off the original speeder, cut an "L" shape into the back of the knee (keeping the knee front) so it faced almost strait backwards, at this point you need to do lots of dryfitting just to get the leg angel right the foot should sit right on the inside edge of the seat the other does'nt matter to much as long as it looks natural. dont be afraid to play around and almost every part of what your adding will probly need "re-shapeing" along its joint in some way to make it flat. it was actualy good to add the Head on now so you can judge his position better. the arm holding the speeder was a Plasma Pistol arm (pisctured), the gun was cut off clean at the wrist and replaced with the "bolter cup" hand and the shoulder was cut strait u and down if you lay out the arm flat so it would face towards the bar. this needs NEEDS to be in position before you glue the legs down otherwise it wont reach. always remember the shoulder armour needs to be put in after too.
