Thanks Validar, the red was achieved by starting with a base coat of Scab Red and then layering with a mix of Blood Red and Scab Red. I'd increase the amount of Blood Red in each layer until the final highlight on the edges are just pure Blood Red. Hope that makes sense ;)

Cheers guys. The helmet and pauldrons are achieved by starting off with a coat of bestial brown, then a 50/50 mix of Bestial Brown and Dehneb Stone working up to pure Dehneb Stone and finally highlighting with Skull White on the edges. I like to give the recesses a washed with thinned down Bestial Brown aswell just to get a bit more depth. Hope that helps.

Hello there, so it's christmas day and I've nothing better to do than post pics of models on the internet. Go figure. I recently finished this old veteran I had lying around. He's been many things over the years, Dark Angel, Ultramarine, even a Grey Knight. But now he has found his identity and happily serves the Blood Ravens as the sergeant of a tactical squad I've yet to build. While I like the model I do wish he'd had an aquila or winged skull on his chest to break up the red a bit. As it stands I gave him a distinct squad mark on his right greave to compensate. I haven't finished basing him yet, but it will eventually look like the other two in this topic. Again I'm quite fond of the freehand on the shoulder pad. Although I said I'd finished it, that won't stop me from going back and touching it up a little, (mold line on the back pack for example).

And cheers sonofwaranddeath. :) Slowly but surely I'm learning the art of blending.

Thanks Captn Lysander, I was looking through an old issue of White Dwarf from when they released Cities of Death, they had Rik Turners BRs in them and I was struck at how light they were compared to the Dawn of War marines. It's a personal preference but I like having darker Ravens otherwise I start straying into Blood Angel territory and I've got 2000 points of those bad boys already.

Thoguht I'd throw up a new brother. The pictures aren't great. For some reason my camera was playing silly buggers, in real life the eyes are far brighter. I'll have to see what some new batteries will do for me camera. This guy was an rescue from my aborted IF army, he now takes his place next to the Brother-sergeant from further up the page. The marking on the knee is Japanese. Don't know why I did that, just felt like it really.
