Wolf Guard Dansef
Whenever the two Chapters meet, a Champion from each is selected to refight the ancient duel fought between Russ and Johnson to maintain tradition and uphold their honour. It isn't necessarily the leaders who take to the stage. Darkangeldentist
Somebody posted it on the B+C as part of a battle report. He and his friend were playing a themed game and did a duel before the game. Logan was pitted against Ezekiel and in part due to some freaky dice the Chief librarian won. Sorry I can't find a link to it at the moment. (I think it was posted in the Dark angel forum.) Raulmichile
There is no "offical" (GW) record of any character/duel. That Grimanar vs Ezquiel duel was part of a battle report I read oncealso , but it is was a gamer report. The other in which Ragnar has won the last duel has to be I think with the duels the Wolf Lord regularily have within the Fang to aquire the honor of wearing the Helm of Russ. Ragnar has been the victor in the last duels and he gave the helm to Ulrik as a show of respect. (At least in the old fluff, but I think it has changed a little in the new Codex) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187021-wolf-and-the-lion-duels/#findComment-2212654 Share on other sites
mastrchief33
Heh, you're right about the duels for the wolf helm of Russ. I think Ragnar gave it back to him to show respect because Ulrik was his recruiter. Now it seems that Ragnar wasn't recruited by Ulrik, but by another priest (of which I can't remeber the name). I guess its now just a personal piece of wargear he always had and they cut the contest from the fluff? Grey Mage
Ragnar is the latest winner of this duel, where he supposedly earned the right to the wolf helm of russ, and gave it to his WP mentor. Brother Remus
On the topic of Ragnar's mentor, offically Ulrik is his mentor. In the Ragnar novels however its a Wolf Priest by the name of Ranek, who is ment to be the High Wolf Priest of the whole Space Wolves Chapter, just as Ulrik is ment to be. William King stated that its like history books, you get a different name and story from each one, so generally what I do is mix Ranek and Ulrik into one in my mind. TiguriusX
In the *5th* Space Wolf novel set on Hyades there is a "duel" between Ragnar and the leader of the DA kill team (Jeremiah I think). It isn't a ceremonial honor duel...they were going to kill each other but Ragnar fought him unarmed and earned his respect etc I remember fluff (older versions of our codex maybe) describing the duels being ceremonial now and Ragnar having won the last one (or last few...hazy memory) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187021-wolf-and-the-lion-duels/#findComment-2213034 Share on other sites
Beef
Ok the duel where ragnar wone the WOlf helm was gainst other SW lords. He has previously wone that duel atleast 2 times. Thus showing Ragnar is the baddest SW lord when it comes to a duel., AS far as the SW vs DA is concerned the Last duel was with Ragnar Vs 1st comapny captain Belial. Obviously Ragnar won that. the extract was in codex titanicus If I recall correctly. |However not owning a copy I was given this info from somebody who owned a copy.
