Custodian Athiair
I really love Ragnar and his backround (although not the backround in the current codex it's too extreme) but i keep getting told by my friends that i can't do a ragnar army justice unless they are in drop pods. Becuase ragnars company is usually the shock troops of Logans campagins. but from reading the books it doesn't sound like this, the books make him sound crafty and clever and not mental at all. Which means i don't really want to stick them all in drop pods, becuase i want them to be fighting in a prolonged campagin. so make their armour mudd yetc. although i do have 1 unit in a drop pod which i was going to say is a reinforcement unit. This reinforcement unit idea, gave me another one. What about if i made a ragnar army of say 3000 points (i always plan my armies up to 5000) and then have the last 2000 as reinforcements. this unfortuantly cuts out my fighting a campagin idea which i really want to do. So i am basicaly asking which idea do you think i should go for: 1) Full Drop Pod 2) Full Prolonged Campaign 3) Mixied Prolonged and Reinforcement thanks a lot Athiair ;) ps. the reinforcement idea i think would have to either put them from a different company, or have them lead by Ulrik which do you think edit: adding link to current 5000 plan [5000 point list] Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187112-ragnar-army/ Share on other sites
hendrik
your friends are a great example of bad generals! this are space marines we're talking about! murdermachines taught in warfare since they were created! 10000years of perfectioning of their methods! these are gods amongst men and know every aspect of war! ragnar's comapny can outfit itself mike any other chapter or great company. sure they excell in droppod actions but does this mean they can't use another tactic? offcourse not! is it because a long fang is best equiped with a heavy weapon he can't use a bolter or meltagun? offcourse not. if there's one thing a soldier and tactician has to be it's to be flexible! SamaNagol
Ragnar is best suited to being in a Land Raider with Grey Hunters or Wolf Guard. And that means he will be used as a hammer to smash the vital point in the enemies lines. Those points usually have enough things that can Instant Kill him. And thus he is usually not going to see out the game. You just have to hope those 245 points do their job before he takes a power fist to the skull. Custodian Athiair
yeh i know but my Space Wolf army (when i start it ) is just a bit of fun, if it wroks then yes, if it doesn't then oh well. i have seperated that 5000 point army into, 5 1000 point sections. Slowley building up to the total 5000 Athiair :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187112-ragnar-army/#findComment-2214168 Share on other sites
