Lamenter Standard Bearer

Recommended Posts

This is my WIP for a standard bearer for my Lamenter army. Ultimately I intend to submit this piece for the golden bolter once it's finished. I got the inspiration for this piece from the Black Templar Codex pg. 37 which is one of my favorite pieces of marine artwork.

Quick run down of the parts I used so far:

1. Legs from Kor'sarro Khan

2. Chopped up leg from standard marine

3. Bolter from Deathwatch Sprue

4. Power fist from Commisar

5. Standard Marine chest and head.

I haven't yet figured out how I'm building the banner but I think I'll use some sort of tubing and greenstuff the banner.

The greenstuff work on the model is just filler at the moment. I intend to smooth it out and add another layer thin layer for details. Overall I think the model stays fairly true to the piece of artwork without greating crazy looking crusade armor.

I haven't fixed the chest, head, or powerfist arm to the legs yet so they aren't exactly in final position. The belt area of the legs are going to require some work before it's finished but overall I like the model.

Let me know what you guys think.

Nice choice of bits, looks like it could be a great model. Only gripe is the raised right leg looks slightly awkward, the angle the leg goes out at and the way the foot turns back in seems slightly unnatural.

Update Time!

I did a lot more filing and trimming of the waist area to fit the plastic torso on better. Personally I feel like it's a much better fit now and he doesn't have the same feeling of falling backwards as the old model. I also changed out the bolter with the one from the command box sprue because it feels beefer and more menancing than the deathwatch one. Other changes include re-greenstuffing the underarmor and I think it looks a little better but I'm not entirely happy with it.

I still need to clean up the left leg area where the head attached to the old Khan's legs. I'm think I might put a holster or purity seal there. Any thoughts?

As for the Standard I think it's more of just a mock up right this morning. I feel like it looks "ok" but it's not great and doesn't feel like in comparison with the rest of the model. I'm currently waiting for a second banner to harden up and I'll try that one out on him.

Now on to the pictures. C&C greatly appreciated! Thanks guys.

Quick update. I haven't finished this guy unfortunately but the yellows are all done. I've just started to pick up the details so none of that is complete. C&C would be appreciated.
