nurglespuss
Hi there guys, Well, on my return home the other day, I remembered a partialy made/sprayed monolith i had lying around, that I never thought I would ever use. We-ell, I'd had a few ideas previously about turning it into a drop pod (before the plastic one came out); Well i figured, give it a go!! So here are a few in progress shots. Its going to stay closed in-game, and will be used for drop-podding a venerable dreadnought, so perhaps the larger design fits? http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs056.snc3/14340_362602200322_633810322_9816741_289285_n.jpg thank you razor saw! http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs056.snc3/14340_362602210322_633810322_9816742_3988936_n.jpg http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs056.snc3/14340_362602215322_633810322_9816743_6055265_n.jpg http://photos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs076.snc3/14340_362602225322_633810322_9816744_598966_n.jpg So, what would you do next? I'm going to cover any gaps with plasticard, and give it a more secure looking structured. I have some pieces ready for making boosters etc. I'm not sure about adding fins though.... Any ideas? thanks guys!! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187188-wip-monolith-battlescene/ Share on other sites
Techmarine.Varrius
How does it open? Shouldn't you try and incorporate something that looks like it should open. Also in the gaps where the gauss things were why don't you add a stormbolter or something. Vlad III
I agree with Varrius, the sides definitely need to open to be a drop-pod, otherwise it's just a slim-line Monolith. Ooooor you could always go with something like the Chaos Dreadclaw Assault Pod from FW. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187188-wip-monolith-battlescene/#findComment-2214514 Share on other sites
nurglespuss
Fair points ;) I can model on doors, or make it look like the petals fold out... I 'could' use the holes for the storm bolter, but then it runs the risk of looking like a monolith again.... hmmmm Thanks guys! Driz
How does this scale up with a regular drop pod? You could use the regular 'risers' or 'guide vanes' in the divides between the 4 corner wedges, you could also fab some w/o too much issue. ... just an idea. :o Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187188-wip-monolith-battlescene/#findComment-2215311 Share on other sites
IronDuke
Just fluff it so it has explosive pins, no need to model fiddly hinges. When it lands, the pins blow and the sides split. Then after battle the techmarines just get the four sides and fit new pins! Easy! nurglespuss
Thanks guys :D Unfortunately, it didn't work out, I took it apart to model the inside (which looked great) and then tried to cut some doors. first one went great, but the next, yeuch! Never mind though. I've salvaged it and will use it to create a battle scene :) thanks for all your help guys!
