What did Jaws Kill Today?

I thought we could start a 'fun' thread on what JoTWW has killed... a running tally of sorts. Not just for Njal, but for any aspiring Rune Priest.

I'm starting to think the el-cheapo Rune Priest is the way to go. I gave him Living Lightning and JoTWW. Basically as a cheap HQ I didn't really care if he died easily or not.

I made a tactical error by putting him with a squad in a Razorback. This was by design, but I forgot there are -no- firing spots in a Razorback! D'oh!!! So keeping him cheap I thought what the heck....

So I'm playing Orks (again) and I've managed to get stuck in pretty deep in Orks.... tons of them are converging and my lines are being held by some remaining, ice hard, Grey Hunters. Along comes yet another green horde of Orks lead by none other than..... Ghaz!

Here we go, my Rune Priest gets out, lays down the 24" line.... and wham! Ghaz rolls a 6 and keels over in mind-numbing agony! Boo-yah!

I did feel badly for my opponent... no wait, that was glee, not remorse! Yea, it was fun. Feel free to add your kills to the list!

Possibly stupid question, but can RP use psychic powers in a transport? I'm used to field psykers, bu I've played 13th company list and never paid attention to this part of rules.

Not if he requires line of sight, but he may use them from the top hatch of a Rhino. Which counts as being inside a vehicle. Land raiders and razorbacks, no!

I

you said you can't fire out of a vehicle because he counts as being in the vehicle? what do you think fire-points are for? sorry if i sound arrogant.

thanks

Please re-read the post old chap, I used the Rhino fire point as an example of when you may fire from a vehicle as you can draw line of sight, razorbacks and land raiders have no fire points so you may not fire from them! If you fire from a fire point you still count as being in the vehicle. Maybe my post was badly worded.

Hmm....what did my JoWW kill lately....

In an apocalypse game where I used 5 Runepriests (Yeah...nasty...I know..) they killed about 1000 points of deamons within the first round...including a greater daemon of slaanesh.....

last game my joWW killed about 8 necron warriors....

Used to snipe a imperial general and some of his guys...

But besides that nothing too important, I hardly used JoWW until now so yeah...

Here we go, my Rune Priest gets out, lays down the 24" line.... and wham! Ghaz rolls a 6 and keels over in mind-numbing agony! Boo-yah!

You didn't! hahahaha nice! That's hilarious. Ghaz probably never saw a huge crack in the earth coming his way before, and didn't know what to do.

Great power for killing fexes, not looking forward to that, even the ones in the new dex.

Your composition score :P.

If only these existed in the UK, gaming would be alot more interesting :(

I do think Jaws is an OTT power. definately reaffirms my beleif in the codex creep

And I think your crazy ;). Killing an HQ on a 6 is hardly game breaking... being unable to target assault marines, winged chaos lords, and tau commanders is very limiting.

Or do you have an issue with Wraithgaurd? Because frankly thats 10 models who get to do that with every shot they make.

Winged Chaos Lords are still Infantry, they only move as jump infantry. Jump Pack chaos lords are jump infantry (normally a small difference, but important with JoTWW and the fact that winged lords can ride in transports.)

Ah this is just the typical response when something new comes out and people come up with all sorts of 'this is the end of 40K' scenarios.....

Oddly enough the "Chaos Spawn" psyker power has been around forever... which not only can flip a guy in close combat, but it turns him into a model for Chaos to use. Mind War for Eldar has been out there forever.... I could go on... but there is zero point to it.

This is supposed to be a fun thread.... What isn't in this thread are those games where JOTWW will do nothing. It's a great power, but the funny thing is, I like the Wolf Priest just as much.

Ghaz was a great kill for me. I had to share it. My rune priest literally did nothing after that but kill a few cheap orks after that... I think he was so impressed with himself for bagging Ghaz..... he lost his concentration. ;)

Three Grey Knight Terminators and one Inquisitorial Henchman (a Heirophant, I think?).

It also illegally killed a Flying Nun of Doom (Cannoness with Jump Pack, Eviscerator, and that ungodly 2+ Invul Save whenever she wants it), but none of us realized until afterwards that Jump Infantry is its own unit category, and not a subcategory of Infantry (Jump Infantry should really have a different name to make this clearer).

It also didn't help that my opponent forgot to roll his saves vs psychic effects, but I'm not taking the blame for that one. The Jump Infantry thing was totally my fault, though.

On an unrelated note, does anybody know if models locked in combat are affected by JotWW? I assume that you can't try to hit them, but if they *happen* to be in its path after it hits something else ... well, the rules are a bit unclear.

And I think your crazy :).

Thats ok, i KNOW im crazy, so its all good my hirsuit friend.

I dont think its a gme breaker every time out, but it has the potential to be.

I do think its a little OTT when compared to C;SM powers.. sure its only a 1 in 6 chance of killing a SM IC but the fact it can kill fex's, necrons, ork nobs and ork ICs quite easily and the fact it bypasses eternal warrior.

When all you have to do is roll one die to see if Gahzkull pegs it, im a little concerned is all.
