Intergrating Terran and Homeworld Marines

howdy,

I'm thinking of doing something abit different for my Space wolves atm, and got thinking about how the primarchs were found, and the legions existed before they were united. Now i would assume at least some of their primarchs genetics would be imprinted upon the terran space marines that formed their legions, but how much do people think their genetic heritage would effect the legions prior to their discovery.

I'm guessing that in general all the legions under the Emperor would be greatly influenced by the him on earth, and Dorn as the first son found, but would we get prenaturally violent Warhound(World Eaters) and Space Wolves, more stubborn Dusk Raiders and Dark Angels, or would they generally fight as a much more balanced force?

Of course, I know the Wolves had their Fenris Bloods etc for their terran and Fenris counter parts, and that the legionaires who stayed loyal to the Emperor during the heresy, but how much would it alter things?

The White Scars IA mentions that the Chogorian marines were much more bloodthirsty than the Terrans. I think you're right - the original Terrans would have been fairly similar in tactical doctrine and organisation, as decreed by the Emperor (and Horus), until the discovery of their Primarchs.

Genitically they would be the same because of the gene seed and the fact all aspirants are of terran descent. Where they would differ is their customs and traditions. There ideals and values would be different along with their battlefield tactics. This is down to the difference in where they come from.

I found it interesting that Garro talked about the Dusk Raiders, a pre-Death Guard legion that lost its customs and way's when Mortarion took over.

I wonder how the Terran marines dealt with their respective fathers gentic legacy before reunifictation; Space Wolves had fangs, Thousand Sons we mostly psychers, Raven Guard had monotone skin and black eyes etc.

a distinct clash between Terran and Calibinite Marines occurs is the Tales of Heresy anthology...more ideals then physical, but you see a difference.

(Terran was willing to take the slower, more peaceful route to integrate new human planets, Calibinite ordered slaughter if my memory serves right)

You are correct.
