My first Space Wolf

after washing the entire model blue...

 

dwarf flesh --> Devlan mud --> dwarf flesh --> Ogran flesh --> watered down badab black for a dirtier look

Apart from the knife hilt and handle needing some color it looks very good. Certainly a lot better than my first Space Wolf as well. Keep it up!

You have all the basics in place. When you're feeling confidant enough, try highlighting and shading and giving the fur some colour variation. Congrats - keep it up and post more pics when you can. :tu:

Nice one! Maybe try some small elf flesh highlights on the face - nose, eyebrows, chin?

As to the pose, I'd admit, I will steal this idea for one or two of my GH, because he's got bolter, bolt pistol and combat knife on him :no: - I'm tired of glueing combat knives on GH free arms ^_^.

BTW, What's a good way to build up the yellow? It was a pain painting it over the blue.

My experience so far - lyanden or whatsitsname yellow (foundation paint), sometimes two layers - orange - a mix of orange and golden yellow - mix of golden yellow + sunburst yellow. Works perfect. I'm also adding a thin line of ogryn flesh along the inside edges.

Personally I just do 2 coats of Iyanden Darksun watered down to get a good basecoat for the yellow. Then one coat of Golden Yellow and a sunburst/bad moon highlight if I feel like it.

Iyanden darksum: add white or dheneb stone for highlight; glaze with sunburst/golden yellow mix ^_^ done

 

Great job on that mini man, the red looks pretty strong :)

 

For the face, a good tip is to do some highlights first, and then wash, whioch brings the highlights together. keep it up!!

way better than my early attempts. Just neaten him aup a tad, paint the knife and grenade up and he is good to go, feeling brave try highlights or shading as others have suggested

Looks good, only thing I would change is doing the bolter and bolt pistol bodies in a non metallic color. I usually use black, though red or yellow could work too.

Actually I think everything turned out really well except the face. I would add fleshy highlights and perhaps leave a more sustained wash, it doesn't look like the recesses really filled. Otherwise most the textures look great. I'd consider a different base color for your bone. And I would change the sword, not really feeling how it turned out. Everything else is pretty awesome.
