i dont get it. it says that models with a wtn always hit on a 3+ regardless of ws or bs. so because ragnar has a wtn deos that mean he can only hit on a 3+ even thought his ws is 6?

Yes, it does.

 

Because you can never hit on better than a 3+ anyways, no matter how good your WS is.

 

Edit: dont get it confused with rolling to hit in ranged shooting, the hth stuff goes by the chart i the rulebook where you compare weapon skills... and always hit on a 3+, 4+ or rarely a 5+.

If you look at the 'to hit' chart in the rule book, the lowest to hit is 3+ (which is the best). Now if Ragnar faces a Deamon with WS10, he still hits on a 3+ and not 5+, due to the fact he has WTN. Oh and welcome to the Fang. ;)

3+ is the best you can get to hit in h2h.

 

With the WTN Ragnar can hit a WS6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 model on a 3+ instead of a 4+ as his WS is 6.

Khârn never misses, even on a 1 he hits.... someone. But thats a special case, with rules written out to cover it, so dont confuse the kid.

Bloodthirsters, avatars of khaine, phoenix lords, some special characters.... probly more, but that comes right to mind.

 

Then theres alot of things that are WS 6 these days to show their amazing fighting skills, and would only be hit on a 4+ not a 3+, like space marine captains.

 

And of course, there have been psychic powers and wargear in the past that messed with your to hit rolls.
