I’ve been collecting SW’s for longer than I care to remember but have not really played since RT and the 1st Ed rules. I’m getting back in to the hobby and really enjoy painting and as the years have pass the standard of my painting has increased. I feel it is time to dust off my sons of russ and start using them on the field of war as the emperor intended. My problem is I have so much kit I don’t know where to begin with an army list and would like some help. I may be longer in the tooth than some, but a lot has changed during my long sleep and I am now ready to take up my place in the great hall once more. Logan (Stripped) Ragnar (Striped) Ulrik (Stripped) Gamesday 2003 WP w/ PP (Painted) Njal old & new minis (Stripped & Unassembled) Lukas (Unassembled) 13 coy Rune priest w/ PP (Painted) Bjorn + FW Plasma Cannon (Magnetized & painted) 8 x WS (metal) 1x MG 1x PG 2x PP 1x PW (Painted) Old metal WS Sgt w/ PW & Bolter (would like to use as fluffy WGPL) WG x 5 TDA (Forge world) 1 x PW & SB (All painted) 1 x CF & SB 1 x PF & SB 1 x PF & SB 1 x CF & AC WG x 4 PA 1x PF 1xPW 1x Bolter 1xPF & Standard (Stripped) 2 x New WG plastic box-sets (Unassembled) Old metal GH & BC Sgt minis w/ PW & PF respectfully (Stripped) 6 x New Wolf pack box-sets (Unassembled) 4 x SW bikers (1 atk bike magnetized) 1 x Land Speeder (Magnetized) 1 x LLC (Magnetized to change to Godhammer Pattern) 2 x Rhino (Painted) 1 x Razorback (Painted & also have AC fit) 1 x Pred Anhi (Painted) 1 x Drop pod (Unassembled) 2 x Devastator boxes (Unassembled) 5 x Sky Claws 1x PF 1x MG (Meltagun magnetized) + Lots of 2mm Magnets, Flamers, Meltaguns, PF, PW and all the other crap you gather after 16 yrs collecting! PKAwolf Posted December 17, 2009 Share Posted December 17, 2009 Grey Hunters.... 2 or 3 squads (maybe 2 and a squad of Blood claws, but I like GH) one with meltas for up close nastyness and the other with plasmaguns for a double-tap squad next is the Rune Priest, best bang for the buck for HQ maybe do a tooled out Wolf Lord for fluff then rhinos/DPs then either Long Fangs or the Raider for some heavy punch that should give you a good base to start playing PS Lone Wolves are fun and uber, throw one in when you get burned out assembly line paining and want to do something special TH and SS make him a walking tank, march him up behind some other squads transport Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187495-i-need-help/#findComment-2218391 Share on other sites More sharing options...

My most used load out for Long Fangs is either 3 missile launcher and 2 heavy bolter, 3 missile launchers and 2 plasma cannons, or 5 missle launchers. I find that Lascannons are WAY to expensive for the +1 str over the Missile launcher. If you keep Logan with them he can give tank hunter to them and have the same results. (however a little heavily priced for him to stay backseat). When making my squads I try to keep ALL squads under 200 pts, except for my Skyclaws because i have to have a power fist and mark of the wulfen. I use it as LRC because A) its the best way to deliver 15 blood claws with a WG or an IC for some 'omg I dont have enough dice shock and awe' and B) I was stupid and did not magnetize to swap out the weps, I then used the LCs and HB for short lived conversions and am now stuck with one pattern of Raider (i fail) I have 2 sets of Fangs, one with lascannons and rocket launchers and the other with heavy bolters and plasma cannons. I swap them depending on who I play. dedicated for a specific role but can split fire with some flexibility. the other favored option is the all rocket squad, 5 S8 or small templates are cheap and effective and flexible. just look at the guys in your gaming group and decide what flavor of fangs will give the bad touch to the most opposing armies. start from there and you'll finish the other squad in time. Grey Mage Posted December 18, 2009 Share Posted December 18, 2009 I actually take a slightly different approach to long fangs- 2xML, 2x LC- 145pts. Keeps it cheap, good against armor, and with the option to split fire and frag some infantry. Id have posted sooner but Im baffled by your list of stuff... how is it that you dont own any GHs or BCs?
