Ikken
so I modeled up a WGPL to go with my skyclaws pack ( 10 models ) . gave him a Pwr fist and plasma pistol , then when i was costing him out , i read that I can't attach him to my sky claws . so I have a few options , take a WGBL at 135 pts ( for my existing model ) or model up a wolf priest for about 125pts , or drop the babysitter and run them on their own . Or I could convert them all to wolf guard and run them as a wolf guard pack ,but that would get foolishly (expensive points wise ) for a large pack ,but a small unit of 3 or 4 kitted with a couple pwr fists and plasma pistols and a couple power weapons might be a terror to tanks and artillery positions . and the cost of a small unit would be reasonable . I am wondering what others have found in their experience ? the cost of a full pack of skyclaws is about the same as the cost of a 10 man squad of blood claws or 10 grey hunters + a rhino transport, in the fast attack category a can only field skyclaws , fenisian wolves or up to 2 speeders with the models i have available. I am wondering if they are worth it ,and what the better combos are . looking for some ideas here , I don't face orks very often, but there are a couple eldar armies out there and a few IG and tau ,plus the usual assortment of space marines . and 1 other sw player . an all comers configuration would be my preference. i have never used my skyclaws b4 , but I have used stormboyz with my orks with mixed results . i would like to try them out this weekend in a 1750pt game ( don't know my opponent yet though ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187515-skyclays-best-babysitter/ Share on other sites
Wolf Guard Hengist
Wold Priest all the way, keep him cheap and the bonus he gives to the unit will more than make up for him being not so killy as other choices. EDIT: what the hell is a Wold Priest? :tu: I meant of course Wolf Priest. I concur. The Skyclaws have a ton of attacks on the charge, with a wolf priest, most will hit. He's the best choice (though it is odd that a pack leader is not allowed) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187515-skyclays-best-babysitter/#findComment-2218491 Share on other sites
Schertenleib
I would go with the Wolf Priest, but keep the Pack Leader model around. Chances are that will get FAQed. Stormshrug
Yeah, the fact that Wolf Guard can even buy Jump Packs strongly suggests that this was an accidental omission, as opposed to an intentional exclusion.
