sonofwaranddeath
I was wondering how you guys run your Admech? I have seen a couple of posts, but they were "count-as" armies (ie, SM, CSM etc..) which to me, isn't an Admech (IMO, if that's what your do, and prefer that is fine by all means) I've been considering and Admech army, and plan on using the Tempus Fugitive Admech codex. Of course it would only be used in friendly games, but after looking through the codex, I don't think I could bring myself to run a Admech army using another armies codex. Again, just my opinion. Also let me know what you guys use to run your armies, and let me know how the Tempus Fugitive Codex worked out for ya if you have used it. Cheers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187539-how-you-run-your-admech/ Share on other sites
morcus
I would personally use the IG codex and counts as, maybe with inquisitorial allies. Mostly though its because I'm familliar with the dex and the way it plays and find it comforting. Blackrose
I would personally use the IG codex and counts as, maybe with inquisitorial allies. Mostly though its because I'm familliar with the dex and the way it plays and find it comforting. That's how I do it, works very well. morcus
I think the old one was better for this stuff but the current one can ,ake some very competive and fluffy armies. bad buddha
i think both the daemon codex and the vanilla marine codex would make exellent adeptus mechanicus armies. i have plans for both..... Senseilord Ashahara
The ability to personalise armies with the old Doctrines system ment you could make any Imperial force you wanted and worked great for both my Penal Legion and my fledgeling AdMec. Sadly the new codex, not quite as useful. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187539-how-you-run-your-admech/#findComment-2226714 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Best one I saw was an almost all vehicle C:SM army... everything was done up yellow and black, with alot of hazard stripes... the only troops were "servitors" wich were counts-as scouts... 4 units of 5 at 1750. But for regular play, I think C:IG is probly the best way to go... tempus fugitives if you have a good, reliable gaming group thats cool with it. morcus
The best way with the new guard codex is to avoid infantry platoons and take vets as your troops, the more flexible nature and better statline better represents skitarri in my opinion. Senseilord Ashahara
The downside being you don't get the 'legions' of Skitarri feeling. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187539-how-you-run-your-admech/#findComment-2230718 Share on other sites
morcus
True, but I think the better options and better accuracy reperesent a well equipped force better, and Its an easier set up to work on the table in my opinion. WingsOfTheFalcon
IG or Inquistion Codexes for me, though I think new IG is probably a bit more effective under new 5th rules. ghosty
I use the tempus fugitives cult mechanicus list for games with my mates or in campaign games, well, that is to say I would if anyone ran a campaign here. If I were to enter a tournament, play my weekly game at GW, play some uptight prig who refuses any and all homebrew supplements I use an Imperial guard with whichhunter allies list. Had my first game with the TF list today, actually, found it to be quite balanced and unique in it's own ways, gotta say the master craftsmanship special rule is great when you roll a heap of ones like I always do. morcus
The problem with homebrew rules is that you can't expect someone who doesn't know you to accept them. Homebrew, fandexs and modified lists are purely for friendly games played amongst friends. Don't get me wrong, I think GW's biggest problem is that far too many players take the rules as Gospel which is something alot of other games don't have a problem with. Expecting someone to play a competitive game with you, using an unofficial list is foolish. ghosty
If I wanted to play a competitive wargame I'd play warmachine, every game I play is either a pick up game or a friendly with people I already know. but when you come up against someone who refuses even Forgeworld(the most overpriced homebrew around) and Chapter Approved articles I just roll my eyes, take out my IG/WH list and feel like I'm back in the religious discussion elective course I took in college. Severus6
I have used both the old IG Codex and the WH Codex for my AM forces; right now I am using the the WH as the standard for my forces even though I have seen some excellent lists with the new IG and Codex CSM. Any of them will do; it really depends on the "feel" you want for your force.
