Typewriter
Thanks! I've finished building this upstanding fellow, an aspiring champion with power weapon(s): http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0690.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0694.jpg Shown with a model citizen for scale. (Puns! Puns everywhere! :P) http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0704.jpg A bit more of a top-down view to show off the paired swords some more. Terminatorinhell
that is a freaking sweet champ! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/2/#findComment-2233635 Share on other sites
jlmb_123
Agreed, he is a nasty piece of work. Are you going to file down the 'bobbles' (couldn't think of a more aggressive word) on his greaves to make them round? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/2/#findComment-2233644 Share on other sites
Typewriter
Thanks guys! jlmb_123: The studs on his greaves will remain cylindrical, mostly because I've got almost exactly the same kind of studs on two of the chosen and I think that they turned out nice. Also, I don't think I can make them round as most of them are too thin to make it look good... Capt. Lysander
Nice work on these conversions mate. First self made raptors ever! And they're awesome! (Boy, your aspiring champion is tall :P) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/2/#findComment-2234128 Share on other sites
Typewriter
Thanks mate! Yup, that champ is quite tall. Almost as tall as my half-botched attempt at a Doghouse pattern Actual scale marine (the next one will be better :)). I've finished another squad of CSM: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0709.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0711.jpg Nothing really special here, they're only nine as I will borrow a regular bolter dude from one of the other squads when gaming. They'll appear at 1500 points where the other squads will have a couple of champs replacing some regular guys. http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0716.jpg A closer look at the more interesting ones including the scratch-built icon. smallvictory
You are keeping yourself busy! The greaves look cool, adds bulk to such a tall marine, great idea.Nice use of spare bits on that Icon too. Typewriter
Yes I am, and as even further proof here is a couple of chaosy objective markers: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0719.jpg They'll look a lot better once painted. Capt. Lysander
Nice objective markers! Very creative addition of destroyed wargear and such. sword brethren
love the objective markers and great idea with the mark of chaos, an idea for all those who feel banners and standards would get in the way during battle (me :) ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/2/#findComment-2236635 Share on other sites
Decadent
Great work on the models so far, and great idea for the personal icon. Is there any chance we could get a closer look at the sculpted-bug-thing on the right-hand objective marker, it looks awesome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/2/#findComment-2236744 Share on other sites
Typewriter
Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments! sword brethren: Yea, I think that large bannerpoles and such would get in the way during combat and it would be very Alpha Legion-y to make a practical solution that doesn't scream "Hey, over here! Shoot me, I'm Chaos!". Decadent: If you mean the bug thing with its back turned towards the camera then it's one of these and they're from the Wood Elves Glade Riders box. Otherwise more pics will be provided when they're painted since I primed them yesterday. Painting is underway for the three champs, I might have them ready tomorrow but I'm not making any promises :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/2/#findComment-2236871 Share on other sites
Typewriter
The three champs are done: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0722.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0724.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0725.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/2/#findComment-2239855 Share on other sites
smallvictory
Very nice! The effects on the powersword look 3D, did you GS a design on them or is it just a great paint job? Typewriter
Thanks mate! The effects are just painted on there, about four shades of purple with white on top. If it's a great paintjob or not is up to the observer :nuke: Next up is a squad of regular marines, not very exciting but they need to be done before I can start with the raptors. Typewriter
Thanks mate! :) I might've mentioned it earlier in the thread but I used SW chainsword arms with the blades replaced by paired blades from the Dark Elf Corsairs box. Typewriter
Heh, yea, that's kinda what I had in mind when I made him  Thanks by the way. Anyway, I've finished another squad of regular CSM: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0729.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0730.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0733.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0735.jpg The whole squad. http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0745.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0749.jpg A closer look at a couple of the slightly different models. It's actually the second time I've ever tried source lighting so be gentle :P Next up is the Raptor squad. Typewriter
Thanks! :D I like to make things that are slightly different, which the upcoming project is a shining example of. In fact, I think I'll start slapping some paint on them tonight... Capt. Lysander
The new marines look just as good, if not better. The plasma coil is excellent! Typewriter
Thanks mate! I'm well into the next project and I was wondering what you guys thought of it, especially the wings. http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0751.jpg So I'm thinking about the wings, I like them but they might be a wee bit bright... The question is: Should I drybrush lightly with a purple? A friend just suggested a turquoise drybrush instead to tie it in with the rest of the models, any thoughts on that? Typewriter
Well, I couldn't wait so I washed the wings blue. http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0756.jpg They'll be finished soon, so you can be expecting new pics within a few days.
