Typewriter
I finished a couple of objective markers today: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0769.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0771.jpg New modelling projects will be posted soon-ish. Typewriter
What, no replies to my Raptors or objective markers? Meh! Anyway, I've made some progress with my next project. A prototype is kinda finished, though some revisions may be done: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0798.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0806.jpg And a couple of size comparisons with a termie: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0799.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0801.jpg I'm thinking about putting plasticard on the legs to make them clunkier and less organic, but I'm not sure... His armpits will be filled in with gs, as well as his neck before I'm finished. They will be counts-as bikers when they're done. The thought behind these are that they are supposed to be some kind of remote controlled marine/machine/daemon engine hybrid straight out of the Dark Mechanicus workshops. The marines that have "volunteered" to undergo the process are usually champions of rival chaos factions or imperial ones that have been captured and are used as an example of what happens when you oppose the Alpha Legion :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/3/#findComment-2290219 Share on other sites
Newtype
Just found your thread Typewriter, and your conversions are amazing! The spider/crawling hand biker/trooper is a really different idea. I like it. Maybe try to give it the look of a claw or hand that was also "volunteered" by some giant chaos beast that opposed the Alpha Legion as well. Keep up the great work! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/3/#findComment-2290345 Share on other sites
Retributis
You could try painting them up and scoring some lines on them to look like the bio-mechanical parts some of the mechs/bosses in MGS4 have (if you've played it :D) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/3/#findComment-2290727 Share on other sites
Typewriter
Thanks! I haven't played MGS4, but we'll see about the painting later :cuss I've gotten some great new ideas from The Serpent's Lair about the legs so I'll be implementing them for a more biomechanical look. I might just finish the one I have as a large hand though ;) More pics sometime next week! Retributis
http://welcomeconsumer.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/laughing_octopus.jpg There are probab;y better pictures I could find but this one sort of shows what I meant :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/3/#findComment-2290805 Share on other sites
Typewriter
Kinda interesting, might be a way to go if I don't feel like re-doing the legs on the first one. Been modeling a new version of the creepy-crawler this past week, mostly re-thinking the leg parts. Anyway, I did take some pics as well: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0851.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0854.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0856.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0857.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0860.jpg And a comparison shot, this model stands taller than the last one. Forgot to take a pic with both crawlers in it though... Natanael
Awesome work! You make me want to develop my Word Bearer-plans and get to converting and painting! Typewriter
Thanks! Whoa, it seems it's been a while since I posted anything here... Anyway, I'm back with a small update! Life's been a bit hectic lately but I've finally managed to finish another of the 'Creepers' as I've dubbed them in my mind: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0903.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0904.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0908.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0910.jpg This is my favourite Creeper yet, shown with a mates blood angel for scale. Tanhausen
Very impressive conversions and nice painting level! What are the creepers supposed to be? Typewriter
Thanks! Game-wise they're going to be counts-as bikers, so yes, they will be mounted on bike bases later. Fluffwise, they'll be examples of what happens to those who oppose the Alpha Legion. Left to the tender mercies of the Dark Mechanicus they become an abominable mix of marine, daemon and machine. Kinda like a mini daemon engine. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/3/#findComment-2428477 Share on other sites
Typewriter
I've finished yet another one of the Creepers, and added details to the previous one. Pics: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0916.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0917.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0918.jpg It looks slightly weird, but I think I can offset that with a nice paintjob. Hopefully I'll finish the last one within a week so I can get on with the DP... And some more of the previous one: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0920.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0921.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0923.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/3/#findComment-2438645 Share on other sites
Typewriter
Aaaaand it's time for another update! It's taken slightly longer than expected, but I'm finally done with modelling the Creepers. I haven't made bases for them yet, still a bit unsure if I should use bike bases or other kinds... Anyway, on to the pics of the champion: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0930.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0932.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0935.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0937.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0938.jpg As you can see I've started using more plasticard, so it's yet another different style on this one. Next project will be a scratchbuilt DP, based on a Dark Elf Manticore. Typewriter
I'm not finished with the DP yet, but while waiting for the gs to cure I've made a couple of other things as well: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0943.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0946.jpg New rhino, slightly more battle damaged than the previous ones. http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0949.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0952.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0955.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0957.jpg A heavily converted AoBR-dread with double DCCW's, just for the fun of it :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/3/#findComment-2480010 Share on other sites

Typewriter
Many thanks! Progress on the DP is kinda slow, almost finished with the upper body though (with a few exceptions...). Trying to get the legs decent enough to use, the feet will probably be one of the most challenging parts yet as I'm aiming for a three-toed bird/dinosaur look. Typewriter
Added some detailing on the left palm (some wavy tentacle-hook-thingies) and smoothed out the sides of the sarcophagus. http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0959.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0962.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/3/#findComment-2480594 Share on other sites
Typewriter
I finally finished my Daemon Prince yesterday: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0965.jpg Good ol' Cypher is a size reference again. http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0966.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0969.jpg This angle is obviously not his best as he looks kinda fat there... http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0971.jpg Making the base was trickier than usual since I didn't want him to stand any taller than he is for balance reasons (the nut and bolt contraption is there as a counter-weight) and as much stuff as I usually throw on would've made it look overcrowded. Iron Father Ferrum
This angle is obviously not his best as he looks kinda fat there... It's just the dress, dear. No but seriously, that one big daemon-prince. I've gotta hand it to you, Typewriter, I despise the new codex enough that I haven't touched my Alphas in a while but you may just convince me to pick 'em back up again. Typewriter
Thanks! That's quite high praise, I'd say. I don't think I've ever convinced someone to start playing again by inspiration alone. Typewriter
I've finally finished my first bipedal defiler! http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0978.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0981.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0982.jpg Posing with a little friend, not Cypher this time. There might also be some sneak peeks at future projects in the background, there's a prize in it for the first one who guesses right what kind :) I managed to treat myself to the new DP-kit today, with the two I can make from it I'll be up to eight Daemon Princes :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/3/#findComment-2514818 Share on other sites

Typewriter
Thanks! Always happy to know I can be inspiring (or is it infecting? ;)) others with my crazy ideas ;) I've since realized that the Creepers were way to big to use on bike bases and got them nice and spiffy 60mm bases for their new role as winged Daemon Princes. They don't have wings, but they jump good B) Combined with my big scratchbuilt one and the two I can make out of the new plastic DP kit I'll be up to eight DP's. Might be fun in apocalypse :P One of my upcoming projects is a couple of Cold One/marine-centaur-things, counts as bikers. They'll probably get some Dark Mechanicus fluff-origins as well. Good luck with your army and post pics when possible, I love seeing other peoples crazy and inspirational ideas as well!
