Warsmith Aznable
One of my upcoming projects is a couple of Cold One/marine-centaur-things, counts as bikers. They'll probably get some Dark Mechanicus fluff-origins as well. Good luck with your army and post pics when possible, I love seeing other peoples crazy and inspirational ideas as well! I've got me some Khorne Berzerkers on Cold Ones that are my bikers. Everyone complains about the legs being too small, but I think they're still cool looking. Typewriter
Those are very nice  I really like the colour scheme you've got going there, both on the Cold One and the 'zerker. I won't comment on the legs since it's done enough in your thread. My first thought was to make riders like yours, but I ran out of legs not earmarked for other projects a long time ago so when a friend suggested making centaurs for bikers then it was settled. The Cold Ones were to be centaurized (kinda like satirized, only less humorous :P). Typewriter
Finished a winged Lord with lightning claws yesterday: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0992.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN0997.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1000.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1002.jpg It's a fairly simple conversion so I only spent a couple of days on him. Typewriter
Finished a DP from the new kit: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1007.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1008.jpg Not a lot of conversions on it, but I kinda like it nonetheless :P Working on the 8th DP, we'll see when it's done. Typewriter
I've finished the eight and last DP now: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1016.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1019.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1022.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1020.jpg It's turned out to be the most daemonic and yet the most comical of my DP's and indeed, of my mini's as of yet (the Tau on a space marine bike making a metal sign notwithstanding...). I've aimed for something similar to Acheron from Sacrifice for the lower body. Now I only have to make another bipedal defiler and I'm moving on to painting the whole lot. The manager of my FLGS told me yesterday that they'll be hosting an apocalypse game sometime before christmas and I really want to see how these guys perform in a game together :D I've got a few modeling projects left that I want to finish before that game, but I really really should finish the rather impressive amount of monstrosities on my desk first... Among the ones which will have priority to be modeled will be my group of 10 CC-chosen and my Cold One centaur bikers. Typewriter
Thanks mate, I'll start painting these last projects soon. I'm finally finished with the second and last defiler: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1025.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1028.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1031.jpg For some reason this one got slightly more bling on it, but I think it works ;) Now I just have five models to prime before starting my painting cycle. teku
Love the marines and raptors! Look really Alpha Legion. But i have my doubt about the DP and Defiler. They look abit odd to be honest. Typewriter
Thanks guys! teku: I understand why you don't think that the eight DP's and huge Defilers really fits with the Alpha Legion's style, but I kinda had to get them out of my head by making them ;) Also, they can be made to fit because fluffwise the AL does the unexpected and thinks outside the box (in my case bringing in the Dark Mechanicus as a plot device to justify my slightly crazy creations :P). Also, I think that wings are slightly less conspicuous than screaming jetpacks for sneaking up on people, so I put them on my Raptors. It was also slightly less pricey to use the 'zerkers that were left over from my Battle Force with MaxMini wings to make my very own Raptors ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/4/#findComment-2528310 Share on other sites
teku
Thanks guys! teku: I understand why you don't think that the eight DP's and huge Defilers really fits with the Alpha Legion's style, but I kinda had to get them out of my head by making them ^_^ Also, they can be made to fit because fluffwise the AL does the unexpected and thinks outside the box (in my case bringing in the Dark Mechanicus as a plot device to justify my slightly crazy creations :P). Also, I think that wings are slightly less conspicuous than screaming jetpacks for sneaking up on people, so I put them on my Raptors. It was also slightly less pricey to use the 'zerkers that were left over from my Battle Force with MaxMini wings to make my very own Raptors  Well indeed the raptors are indeed clever tought. The Dp/ Defilers are cursing against your raptors then! Because i don't see how a gaint DP/defiler can be sneaky? But you need heavy support i guess and maybe me opion about them will change if there painted ;) Keep up the good work! Typewriter
teku, sometimes the point is not to be sneaky, but act as a diversion for other units to get in the right position  Anyway, I've started painting the latest projects, with a trio of termies first to get my skills back up again: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1035.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1040.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1043.jpg Nothing special, really. Not bad either, but I didn't put in a huge amount of effort into them. Saving that for the new Lords and eight DP's. Next up is the new rhino. Typewriter
Thanks guys :D White Scars Librarian: High praise indeed, but I bet that you'll see some better ones soon enough. There are a whole lot of really good modelers around here. More crazy stuff will be featured in this thread at later dates though :cuss daemonclaw: It takes a while to make everything come together, but I usually write down the ideas I get that might be fun to model so I don't forget them (notoriously bad memory doesn't help...) and put them on the 'To do'-list. When it's the ideas turn to get modeled (the list is usually pretty long) I try my best to get my head around the practical aspects of the idea and make it as nice and/or cool looking as I can ;) The dread actually needed some reinforcements to its extended shoulders, the arms were falling off when moved about in-game (the arms are magnetized) so they're slightly wider than in the last pics. I'll see what will be painted after the rhino, maybe it's time for a dread? Typewriter
I've finished painting a rhino: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1045.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1049.jpg Not really happy with how the freehand on the roof turned out but I put that down to messing up while stippling green late at night. I took the pot of Scorpion Green instead of Goblin and didn't realize it until the whole vehicle had been done :D I'll go back and redo it at a later date, maybe in blue like the back door to avoid having to repaint the whole thing... EDIT: Re-did the freehand on the roof section: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1055.jpg Not perfect but much better than before. EDIT 2: Blended the roof section more, made it look like a kind of expressionistic painting more than anything... http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1058.jpg I also made some scorch marks around the melta hits. Typewriter
Finished Cypher today: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1061.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1063.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1066.jpg As you can see I've painted him up as one of my Chosen, mostly because he probably would hide his presence in a veteran squad easiest that way. I also tried a few things I've never done before (5 o'clock shadow, blonde hair and proper skin tones) so it's partly a test mini in that regard. EDIT: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1073.jpg Highlighted the hair a bit more, the flash on my camera seems to wash out the yellow tone almost completely though. It's much more intensely yellow in person.
