Warsmith Aznable
Those conversions are absolutely off the wall insane! I like them very much! The paint on them is very fitting, as well. Keep up the good work! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/5/#findComment-2555349 Share on other sites
Typewriter
Thanks a lot! Comments like that really makes my day ;) Anyway, I finally finished the first of the two bipedal Defilers (whew): http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1164.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1160.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1158.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1162.jpg The colours turned out a bit weird in the pics, I'm particularly proud of the skin colour of the captured dude but it looks strange in the pics B) Next up is the termie lord! augustmanifesto
why are you painting your alpha legion green? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/5/#findComment-2564787 Share on other sites
Typewriter
I decided to stipple them two kinds of green to make them stand out from other Alpha Legion, also I couldn't do the scales suggested by GW properly... How would you suggest I painted them if not blue with a heavy green stippling on top? The Alpha Legion encourages thinking outside the box so I think it's quite in character ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/5/#findComment-2564933 Share on other sites
Typewriter
Finished the termie lord with Daemon Weapon: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1169.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1174.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1176.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1181.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1183.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1189.jpg Tried to get a couple of decent close-ups of the blade since the marble effect I tried to achieve didn't really show properly in the pics, it looks kinda ok IRL. Not all that bad for a first try but I will have to try it again to make it look good. Quixus
Nice model and well painted, great job :) .Seconded. You may want to photograph your models in front of something else than blue paint jars though. Unless of course you want to hide them. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/5/#findComment-2571730 Share on other sites
Typewriter
Thanks! Yeah, I used to use some sheets of paper as a background but since then I've gotten a wee bit lazy B) I just might start doing it properly again with the next models I'm working on. As of yet there are two of the seven remaining daemon princes on the painting table just waiting for the first touch of the brush... teku
You still don't convice me by painting that those wicked but badass nice looking defilers fet in an alpha legion. But nice job! I wouldn't be able to do it so respect. I like the raptor wing lord and the terminatord lord! I'm waiting for the Daemon prince with 2 swords. Wondering what will happend to him!? HarasinCreed
Nice models. How did you do the wings on the terminator lord? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/5/#findComment-2572360 Share on other sites
Typewriter
Thanks  teku: The defilers are there as a diversion, to stand in the middle of nowhere going "Rargh! I'm huge and dangerous!" while the regular Alpha Legionnaires sneak round the back and steal the shovels and map to the treasure from the opponents ^_^ With a wee bit of practice one can do a lot of things justice, I consider my painting skills some steps beneath my modeling skills but I haven't made the model yet which I don't dare put to the brush myself. The slightly more plastic DP model with two swords will be of the more reddish persuasion, but that's as far as I've thought about him yet. HarasinCreed: I bought the wings from my FLGS but they are made by Micro Art Studio (linky). I bought them thinking they'd fit a regular power armoured model, but they're slightly too big. They fit the slightly larger terminator models like a glove, though. They might fit an actual-scale marine as well but I haven't tried that... Warsmith Aznable
About the wings on the Terminator Lord... Purely decorative? It was my understanding that you couldn't take the wings if you took the Terminator armor, and that there was also some WYSIWG rule saying that if you use X for Y, you can't also use X for X. They're absolutely neat-O, though. Typewriter
I have no idea if there is a WYSIWYG-rule that excludes viable options for one model if it's used in a decorative purpose on another, but in this case I'll go with the Rule of Cool :P I might add that I haven't fielded any terminators, ever, in a game and pretty exclusively play against my friends so I don't think it'll be a problem if I'd want to field the termie lord ;) Oh, and thanks, by the way! Typewriter
I've finished two more DP's: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1198.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1199.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1203.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1207.jpg Pretty simple, nothing really fancy going on here, although I'm really satisfied with the metallic colour on the plate on the right ones base. That one also got slightly creepier with the addition of pupils in its eyes, kinda gave it more humanity oddly enough... Typewriter
Thanks! Finally finished the fourth DP: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1215.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1219.jpg (Yes, I know there's a couple of smudges of grey on the wing, they've been taken care of.) http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1223.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1226.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1230.jpg It's as close to a stock model as I've done for quite a while now, what do you guys think of it? Next up is the last Defiler. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/5/#findComment-2587989 Share on other sites
Natanael
And you were the one advising against two DPs in my list? ;) Looks great, I think. The blend of the colours on the wings could use thinner layers to look better, but that is about it. You've got a really nice blue-green colour, I have to say. - Natanael Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/5/#findComment-2587995 Share on other sites
Terminatorinhell
That is a FIERCE DP! I love the dual swords! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/5/#findComment-2588078 Share on other sites
Quixus
I second that, awsome DP. Don't know though if I'd prefer the default head. Or maybe a(n oversized) human one, since everyone in the Alpha legion looks like Alpharius. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/5/#findComment-2588086 Share on other sites

Firefighter X
I REALLY love the idea of the DP with dual weapons. Was it difficult reshaping the fingers to get them to curl around the hilt of the sword? Might have to yoink that idea for my DP [ since I'm stealling so many ideas already for my World Eaters ] Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/5/#findComment-2588354 Share on other sites
Typewriter
Thanks guys! -_- Natanael: ^_^ Yeah I know about the blending, I might fix it up later. Thanks though. Quixus: Pah, he's not Alpharius. I'm Alpharius :P Firefighter X: I used salt dipping to curl the fingers, just be careful not to use too hot salt or heat and bend more than twice. So yoink ahead ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187568-typewriters-alpha-legion-project/page/5/#findComment-2588897 Share on other sites
BNSminiatures
Nice looking army going here Typewriter, i wouldnt worry about the wysiwyg rules tbh, if anyone moans about it blag it as demonic speed or Fleet of foot. the sings just lift his bulk enough so he can run -_- Iain. Typewriter
Thanks Iain! :) As I mostly play my friends it's never really an issue. We'll see what people say after I stuff all of these bad boys into an apoc game ;) In other news, I've finished my second bipedal Defiler: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1233.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1243.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1245.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/Aggesbukkit/DSCN1249.jpg I think I'll go for the humongous scratchbuilt DP next.
