Niiai
Gretings fellow brothers! I was just wondering if it is posible to make a plasma and or lascanon dread out of the one that comes in the starting sett? How hard is it? Grey Mage
Not to hard... you just cut off the MM and then carefully cut the weapons you want to put on to the proper length, then glue them... and be careful that they set straight. Niiai
Cool. I would of course need to get the weaponds from somewhere... *ponder ponder* Would devestators work? Grey Mage
Depends- for the Plasmacannon, sure. For the Lascannons I think it would be more difficult, as their is a marine hand holding the LC along the barrel... if you want lascannons the best thin would probly be the razorback kit, and modifying the two LCs from there. Or getting a regular Dreadnaught- TLLC is one of its standard options. Prosedragon
Since armor is more effective en masse buying both the aobr dread and a regular one isn't a bad idea, and they're easy to magnetize. If you're careful about it the aobr dread looks fine converted to have other weapons - my main concern would be the wires coming off the weapon. Spazmonkey
Well here is a AOBR dread I have just started converting, like litterally just started, It took me ten miuntes to do what I have done so far. Cut off the multi melta and attached a plasma cannon from the longfangs. Bear in mind i have just started the conversion and the photo is taken using macro go the join looks x10 biggere than it does in RL. Almost all of my models have been AOBR models that have been converted. http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv186/jay_Spazmonkey/swpcfront.jpg http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv186/jay_Spazmonkey/swpcside.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187592-making-a-dread/#findComment-2219886 Share on other sites
commander alexander
good job, Im sure it will look good painted, but why two banners? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187592-making-a-dread/#findComment-2219896 Share on other sites
Spazmonkey
good job, Im sure it will look good painted, but why two banners? somthing different, no reason really... i just like the way it looks. none of the dread is glued yet. I litterally just took it off its sprue an hour or so ago. but yeah once cleaned up a bit more, I think it will look good. still want to convert the storm bolter into a heavy flamer and add a greenstuff pelt.... EDIT: and plus this guy that i also just started has one banner. http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv186/jay_Spazmonkey/2dreads.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187592-making-a-dread/#findComment-2219902 Share on other sites
SamaNagol
Just buy another arm from Forgeworld for £6.80. It's worth saving up and buying it, because the quality is superb. I am waiting for the FW Dreadnought to be released next year. I have a spare MM arm and an oooooold school Chaos Dread Thunder Hammer waiting for him. So I will have Bjorn with his Claw and another Ven Dread with a T.Hammer. Way better than boring fists! nurglespuss
Good effort, for me though the plasma cannon from the devestators is a bit too small... The ones from a leman russ demolisher look great though... or the old metal chaos dreadnought plasma arm... Vaaish
I think you need to cut more off the back of the dev plasma cannon you glued on there or trim the arm mount back to the shoulder armor. As it is right now, the front part of the arm is too long.
