rangemaster
i didn't see it in the rule book, but i hope true grit still applies to the sw. is it true or not. if so, in tournaments what do i do with my warriors that have a ccw and a bolter. it's a "what you see is what you get" issue, so are they disqualified? i ask this because in wargear, grey hunters have bolter, bolt pistol and closecombat weapon. but doesn't this rule extend to all sw units? also which weapon is better: a flamer, plasma rifle or melta gun? which is more effective all around? which is just best against armour? AdeptusDavidus
No, True Grit does not apply to Space Wolves anymore. As you observed, it's not in their rules anymore. Grey Hunters are equipped with boltgun, bolt pistol, and close-combat weapon, as you observed, but that extends only to Grey Hunters. Other units have their own wargear listings. I don't know how tournaments will regard your models - I'm sure they'd be fine as Grey Hunters, or as any other model equipped with a boltgun and CCW - but you should check with your tournament organizer if you're not sure. Of the three special weapons, none is "best". They each have a different role. The meltagun is the most effective against vehicles, but it has the potential to slag pretty much anything it's pointed at. Plasma guns are powerful against heavy infantry, but suffer from the "Gets Hot!" rule. Flamers are great for Blood Claws, since it bypasses their lower BS, and are at their best against dense formations of light infantry. commander alexander
-Wolves no longer have true grit, but thats why they included bolt pistols, ccw, and bolters for wargear, you can still shoot (with pistols) before assaulting and get +1 attack for two ccws. -And as far as modelling every single on with their wargear, its just like marines in their new 'dex all having grenades, which used to be an option; you only need to represent any "special" or "upgrade' weapons on the models, otherwise, you can just give them bolters. -Meltaguns are the better of the three special weapons. They are assault, which allows you to shoot, and then assault using your two (if we are still talking GH) ccws. They are the best of the three for anti-armor, as they a Str8 Ap1 and melta! Which is higher than either the flamer and plasma, even if it has shorter range than the plasma, and less "shots" than either, it will still fry anything it hits. And just some advice, take two GH packs in drop pods with two meltaguns each, if you land them close to vehicle, its a guaranteed boom :D . ===Edit=== Wow it took me ten minutes to type that. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/187857-packin-heat-probably-not/#findComment-2222842 Share on other sites
SamaNagol
Grey Hunters and Wolf Guard were the only models who could buy bolters anyway, and the same is true now. It's not changed the legality of any of your old models. Grey Mage
Nothing wrong with the old True Grit marines, or using BP+CCW GHs are new edition GHs. Each of the special weapons has its place, but for the msot part I take P. Rifles and Meltaguns, as our troops are already great at killing hordes.
