hey donates again,

i have put together a small list on the things that i think are must have's and must not's for mono-khorne.

before i start i am sayingh this: THIS IS MY OPINION! PLEASE YOUR OPINIONS ARE WELCOME BUT DONT GO SAYING I HAVE IT COMPLETELY WRONG AS IT IS MY OPINION.

ok lets start!

MUST HAVES:

Bloodthirster ( quite obvious really, its a beast of a creature, Is durable and can deal out more damage then 10 black guys standing around hitler)

Bloodletters ( these are amazing in my books, 16pts power weopons almost MEQ stat line with an additional attack, downfall on the save)

Bloodcrushers ( around same price as termies and are absolute beasts in cc and quite durable, downfall is lack of movement)

Soul grinders ( provide need anti-tank and a threat at range with phlegm gives your opponent a tough nut to crack, AV13 is fairly durable and no shock is nuts  )

Skulltaker ( rending on 4+, no need to say anymore......)

Must not's:

Heralds on chariots ( losing independet is a downfall and for 20 pts more you can get it back and sit him on a jugger and run him with bloodcrushers)

Flesh hounds ( for 1 point more you get power weopon bloodletters )

Daemon princes ( for 185 pts you get the ussual: mark of khorne, wings, iron hide, i dont see what this can do that 4 bloodcrushers with 25pts leftover cant do other then mobility)

so there is my list, all opinions wanted

ALL OTHER MUST"S AND MUST NOT LISTS ALSO WELCOME HERE AND APPERICIATED!

You may have to rethink flesh hounds.

The big problem with a Khorne list is speed issues, and flesh hounds can cure that problem, I'd suggest a bigger unit (of at least 8) And with Karanak, Move through cover beasts, is amazing.

6" move, Fleet, 12" charge, with a ton of attacks, 2 rending hounds, you can tie up some forces that your letters cannot get to, until they can get there.

Also I've had a lot of luck with skarbrand lately, yes he gives his bonus attack's to enemies, but with furious charge power weapons you strike first, and stuff dies, a lot.

I used to think the same about DP's vs soulgrinders, but soulgrinders are TERRIBLE against tanks, winged unholy might DP's are actually more reliable at killing non-monoliths.

Why is that? Soulgrinders can fleet and have 4 S:10 attacks in close combat.

Flesh Hounds, str5 assaulting AV10 rears (80% of all vehicles including front AV10 walkers are considered), cheaper than bloodletters and much faster. That's their main consideration.

Chariots of Khorne = big fat bases = lined in front of your bloodletters = 4+ cover saves instead of 5+ Invulnerable saves for cheap. Also, a chariot of khorne that's cheap, is near the same worth its own points in bloodcrushers.

Equal points in bloodletters versus a bloodthirster and the thirster dies almost every time. Try it. Equal points in bloodletters versus a herald on chariot, and its a little harder.

Quantity over quality is a 40k motto that still works in the daemon codex.

I second this

TO CORPSE..............................................

I kind of agree but in saying that, it does also make a little bit of nonsence my reasons are actions speak louder then words ( even though im writing :o )

equal points in bloodletters to a bloodthirster versus a vindicator, bloodthirster would do more damage. equal points of bloodletters as a bloodthirster chasing down chimera's my money is on the thirster.

i am trying to say the equal points theory does not explain the roles they play, as your not quite going to send 10 bloodletters in to take down a dread are you? but why not send in a thirster? as for the bloodletters for chariot, your right it is a little harder, and i agree with you more there as they in a way play a stack of the same roles.

probably just the 12" movement and the 2d6 armor pen. i've never really used grinders (hate the models/fluff) so i can't really judge, but i would guess that's his thought process.

if both get to attack the thing, that many ST5 attacks on rear armor 10 will have little to no problem killing it, or at least stun (to kill it next turn) or blow the gun off. besides, that is kinda making it best case for the thirster (with the ordnance template). try it again with a predator annihilator instead ;) (i know the thirster will still kill it, but the bloodletters would wreck that thing)

as for chasing a chimera, that's where the hounds come in. dirt cheap, not competing with anything for a slot, and fast as hell. plus, no one shoots non-power weapon hounds when there are hellbladed bloodletters on the table.

although, if your all khorne, you do need some MCs or soulgrinders to kill dreads.

my 2c

In a mono-khorne army, everything has a place - as people have described above.

Personally though I'd take Skarbrand over a regular 'Thirster anytime. The rule effects your opponents but if you play it well, you're higher Initiative Khornate Daemons will butcher anything with the aid of his rule BEFORE the enemy has a chance to take advantage of it! Preferred Enemy on Khornate Daemons which have a combination of Power Weapons/S5/Rending/I5 etc... Yeah, why not? :)
