What's your favorite Runic Power?

I am going to be using a runepriest for the first time in a very long while (2+ years of not playing), and wanted to hear what are people's favorite runic powers, and how they used them in battle.

I will be going with stormcaller and murderous hurricane on a runepriest with Master of the Runes (Whose on a bike supporting TWC).

I found this snipet on powers from http://space-wolves-grey.blogspot.com/2009...iest-guide.html

Thunderclap - There are better powers

Living Lightning - Great for popping light Vehicles

Stormcaller - An awesome second power for a Priest with Master of the Runes Priest

Tempests Wrath - Fantastic against skimmer heavy and Daemon armies

Furry of the Wolf Spirits - Decent but short ranged

Murderous Hurricane - Fantastic power, it’s really good against low toughness models and helps control the battlefield.

Jaws of the World Wolf - Good sniping power, particularly effective against low Initiative models.

So yeah, whats your favorite power?

I fight orks a lot, so I like MH and LL. I once sniped an entire Lootas squad with LL, killing four and running the other two off the board. MH, because it essentially puts them in dangerous terrain next turn, is great for when the foot mobs get a wee bit too close for comfort.

If you're going for an offensive Rune Priest then Storm Caller and another shooting power is a goov combination. Murderous Hurricane could be funny, cast it on a squad, charge them and then they make dangerous terrain rolls when they meet your charge. Jaws can be used to snipe that special CC weapon guy, though it's not very reliable unless you're fighting ork/Tau.

I used a RP more in a support role, so I usually go for Living Lightning and Murderous Hurricane. One lets me affect the whole board and the other makes it painful for anything to get too close to me.

As a side note, a RP in a bike isn't very good support for TWC. The movements don't match up and he would (at the very least) have to split from the squad if you want them to charge so that he doesn't slow them down.

The runepriest has his own team of bikers, he is just close enough to the TWC and my lord on a TWM in the early rounds to give em cover, and lay down the hurricanes on the units they are going to charge, as well as to help the F-Wolf charge. (i am 13th company, so I need it =P)

MH is great against enemy assault units if you stand firm and rapid fire. If they assault you can counter attack and they strike at initiative 1

If you have points to spare I would drop MOTR and just get a second RP. You get so much more for an additional 50pts. If the rest of your army includes GH in a Rhino or a LR then drop him in there and he can go full speed and cast storm caller.

I LOVE LIVING LIGHTNING. Unlimited range str 7 up to 6 shots that hits really well. I've had my RP and a PG hunter firing from the fire points of my rhino just wrecking stuff. I instantly fell in love. Slap on beastslayer and reroll some to wounds on the tough stuff and you're rocking and rolling. IF i cant nuke the carny into oblivion from across the table then i pick up joww as the 2nd power and drop some stuff in a big hole.

I use 3 rune priests, all with Living lightning ;D

Its just so overkill to zapp people that much.

I normally run each in rhinos with 8 gh's and a wolf guard each.

Im normally using this combination.

LL, Storm caller

LL, murderous hurricane

LL, Jotww

I like to run them with Jaws and Living Lightning. I plan on using 2 of those (with different wargear sets before someone feels like saying something about it)

They would still need to have different sets of psychic powers.

That said it kind of depends on what you are facing, I have had great luck with JOWW ( 4 nob bikers in one shot), and less with LIghting (I run it but always seem to roll 1s on my number of hits)

So living lightning seems to be popular. Gonna have to try it out. Is it better than murderous hurricane, or just for different scenarios?

I just got extremely lucky that my oppnent failed all those 3+ armor saves. My second power was murderous hurricane. I used it twice and only killed one or two guardians each time. Just bad luck when rolling to wound. And I forgot to make my oppnent roll for difficult terrain. Whooops. That game I also failed two psychis tests. And the game was also 5 turns long. My rolls were either super awesome or super horrible.

I know something fitting.

I think every single RP should have LL as one of his powers...it is pretty amazing.

Living lightning turns a single rune priest into a quasi-long fang pack.

D6 S7 hits with AP5 is a powerful tool that is even capable of taking out transports.

It also has no range limit...so it is almost always found on a RP guarding a rear objective.

MH is great too but for different reasons and has fewer opportunities for use in a game. It is a super power if your RP is in the front lines hunting enemy assault units. Even if it kills zero models it still serves a great purpose. The unit has to travel through dangerous terrain and strike at I1 (pending assault grenades etc.)

Just a quick question ... where do you get the strikes at Init 1 thing for Murderous Hurricane?

Is it because they're considered in difficult terrain? Since they're charging and the SW aren't in difficult terrain I don't think it would apply ... but I could be wrong.
