Dezartfox Posted December 26, 2009 Share Posted December 26, 2009 After getting a spare set of Terminators I wanted to make them all into my favourite chapter, Dark Angels. So my plan is to modify all the terminators to become members of the Deathwing! I started with the Librarian first :D I carefully sliced out the head from the Librarian, slightly damaging the hood, this was very difficult but I wanted my Libby to look different to all the other Librarians, plus there are NO helmeted Librarians anymore and I miss that! I find that this helps give the model contrast and shadows to work too. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg246/Dezartfox/Models/DeathwingLibrarian012.jpg next I gave him two coats of Asurmen blue wash, highlighted the edges and highest points with thinned Ice Blue and then thinned Skull white followed by another wash of Asurmen blue, I've started painting some of the details in :) I like to get the eyes done on a model as early as I can, gives the model character and life. AdeptusDavidus Posted December 26, 2009 Share Posted December 26, 2009 That's a very nice conversion, the addition of the helmet really makes the model unique. My only complaints are that the hilt appears to be missing on the (very neatly installed) Deathwing icon on his right pauldron, and the blue seems a lot more muted than one usually sees on Librarians. The latter isn't that much of a complaint, though, I suppose - it's certainly not bad, just different. Are you going to paint both pauldrons bone-colored, to get that Deathwing look going? And, if you're open to suggestions, I think DA Green would look really nice for the robe. Dezartfox Posted December 26, 2009 Author Share Posted December 26, 2009 Ah yes I forgot to mention that! The DA symbols are extremely thin, I was REALLY careful all the way through. The top snapped off :) I've repaired it with greenstuff now, so it has a hilt :D Hmm, I was planning on just one shoulder pad.. but I think two might look better. Will think about that one! And a Green robe sounds excellent. A deep green would really sit nicely with the dark blue you have used. Claws model's helmet with a skull. I love the way that the Libby looks with the helmet, GREST work! And the soucre lighting glow from the helmet lenses looks awesome! SamaNagol Posted December 26, 2009 Share Posted December 26, 2009 Personally, looking at it with a bit more close analysis, you should do the clean shoulder in bone with the DW symbol, along with the chest eagle (even though I know you have already painted it red). Then do the loincloth in DA Green. Great conversion work, and a nice addition to any army. I think the fact that the librarian has a helmet on is great, as you've said there aren't any production librarians wearing them, so this is brilliant. It makes the character look far more enigmatic and mysterious! Consider many of your ideas here stolen...
