Bulweih
Fellow Brothers, give me your opinions on some questions that go through my head. What do you think about a WP in TDA, is he worth assembling? What's your take on this. I really love the Pred.Model, but I've got a nasty feeling that its not that good in the game because of the weaponoption/points, how are your experiences in the 5th. Edi? A yes or No to Whirlwinds and if, rather two? Landspeeder for tankhunting or leave that to LF and my swiftclaws with attached trike+MM? Help me out by just giving me some of your experiences or ideas. And all hail Russ! Wolf Lord Jukes
I would suggest all of those things except the terminator WP (personal preference). For your first predator, a lascannon sponson autocannon turret predator would be ideal, and is still well worth the points. Yes to Whirlwinds, but I prefer to go one or none, as it gets a bit too hard for them to earn their worth with 2 or more and there are so many other things that require heavier firepower to take out. I almost always include a single landspeeder with MM, but there are those who prefer to take those in pairs. Hope that helps! hendrik
why would you wanna lose the sweeping advance you so desperatly need? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188356-what-to-do-with-the-wgbl-in-tdaanyone/#findComment-2228609 Share on other sites
Wildfire
What do you think about a WP in TDA, is he worth assembling? Absolutely not. He's already got a 4+ invulnerable, so the termie doesn't add to that. He loses grenades, a bolt pistol (important for the extra attack), and the ability to make a sweeping advance, in return for a 2+ armor save and a storm bolter. For the same cost he could take runic armor which provides the same armor save, all without taking away his CC equipement. There's absolutely no game reason to ever take termie armor on a Wolf Priest. What's your take on this. I really love the Pred.Model, but I've got a nasty feeling that its not that good in the game because of the weaponoption/points, how are your experiences in the 5th. Edi? I like sponsonless preds in a mech list. Particularily the autocannon pred, which I feel is an excellent anti-skimmer platform for it's cost. A yes or No to Whirlwinds and if, rather two? I've never been a big whirlwind fan, especially since they took away the mine option. I suppose they're ok if you're going up against slogging squishy infantry, but in an all-comers list I'd rather have a vindi if you're looking for pie plates. Landspeeder for tankhunting or leave that to LF and my swiftclaws with attached trike+MM? That's very list and meta dependant. They're nice, cheap, fast platforms, but they're not so good that loading up on them is always a great idea. It depends on if you feel you need the extra anti-tank. Grey Mage
Whirlwinds are excellant- you can fire from out of line of sight, you can ignore cover, or you can ignore AP 4 and cover if theyre not area terrain... and with str 5 its basicly a heavy bolter shot agaisnt everything under the template- wich is great for those squishy objective holding units. Make it rain! Oh, and dont forget- these are heavy bolters with pinning. Predators... much more hit and miss- with the new LF prices there are seriously better places to get lascannons than a predator for most players, but the Predator Destructor, or "dakkapredator" with HBs+Autocannon is dirt cheap at 85pts, and puts out some nice horde-stopping and light tank kiling firepower. As for the Wolf Priest in TDA... I wouldnt unless its for the fluff, or you just want a cool looking model- you lose out on the extra attacks from a BP, you dont get any serious discount for wargear really *as hes perfect with just PW+BP* and runic armor gives you an identical save... and can be switched back and forth with PA on the same model with no issue. Landspeeders- I think one or two in a list under 2000pts is enough, but is always a good idea to have one to hunt enemy artillery down. Nothing sucks more than trying to get through a barrage of Medusa fire because theyre out of line of sight. Bulweih
Ahhh, Brothers your wisdom enlightens me. The WP in TDA was just an idea because of Fluffstuff, lets forget about that one. I guess I'll buy me the slightly older APO box with the 2 WW and 1 LS, since I can switch between WW and Razorbacks. And maybe the Pred., who knows... But one last question remains: My WGBL in TDA, how arming him? TH+SS, but that spoils his Ini. or rather twin WC? Help me out her please... Grey Mage
I like 2x LC personally. As for the whirlwinds, if you dont glue down the back hatches you can also switch them out with rhinos. Bulweih
Thanks again Brothers. The WGBL has the wolftail, but I have the feeling I'm missing sth., do I get two sep. Phsyker safe rolls with Runic Armour and Tail? I'd love my WGBL in TDA with FA+SS, but someone must have thought it funny, to make it unavailable for him :) . So the general tendency goes to Runic Armour I guess....uhm, okay. But why do they make such a wonderful Wolfpelt in the new SW-TDA-Box, when the WGBL in TDA is such a pain in the a## rulewise? Now that just isn't funny ;) ! Any good ideas who to give the nice big pelt? Btw I already have my WL in Ragnar, or Logan, depends on my mood ;) . Grey Mage
Well its kinda like a pair of 5+ saves, but the first one stops the power from affecting your unit at all... wich includes powers that dont do wounds, such as Doom and the IG Soulstorm. Then, if you are hit with wounds and one of them is allocated to a model with runic armor you get a 5++ if its AP 2 or better. Bulweih
That's good to know, thought it ought to be that way, but haven't had the opportunity to fieldtest it for myself, thanks again.
