Radak
Hello guys, I'm new to the game and i picked SW. Right now i have 20 bloodclaws, a wolf lord, a razorback, a assualt squad, 10 scouts and 5 terminators. Everyone i have talked too keeps telling me that SW move fast and that i should do that but i dont really get what they mean, can ya explain that to me? Also Can ya give me any tips for using a SW army? Thanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188417-new-to-the-game/ Share on other sites
Grey Mage
*blinks* Well Ive never heard us described as moving fast... but if your looking for some speed then Drop Pods or Rhinos are the way to go... Theyll double the base speed of your troops from 6" to 12" in the case of rhinos, and get you right where you want to be in the case of pods. But Bloodclaws arent good in DPs.... GHs are much better in them because you can rapid fire, and if your charged you dont lose any attacks... BCs on the other hand cant fire at anything inside 6", and lose attacks on the countercharge. And by assault squad do you mean bloodclaws with jump packs? For suggestions, Id suggest you get some Grey Hunters, another Razorback kit *dont glue down the top hatch, you can use it as a rhino too*. And early on, a Dreadnaught is good... as are long fangs. Just about any SW army does well to have those two units in them for heavy weapon support. Radak
I didn't glue down the hatch on the razorback so i can make it into a rhino when i need it later on. Sorry i should of clarified the assault squads, yes they are bloodclaws with jump packs. Ah ok thank you, i will pick up some Long Fangs when i get a chance. Grey Mage
Especially with your current setup youd do well to take Lascannons and Missile Launchers for your LFs, as you need some antitank in there. Plasmacannons arent bad either at str 7, but can be a bit unpredictable, still theyre a solid weapon. Night Runner
To add what GM said, I would also consider a Wolf Priest and Rune Priest as options for your Wolf Lord, according to who you are battling against. The WP with your BC grants you rerolls with Oath of War against nominated troop types, and the Rune Priest offers many tactical advantages and is excellent when running with GH. I'm not a fan of expensive HQs with games under 1500pts and RP & WP are relatively cheap and I usually run them with very few upgrades. Hope it helps. Greyhunter77
I'd definately be looking at some heavy support from Long Fangs (Excellent ability to split their fire). I also run a dreadnought with an assault cannon and Power Fist/Heavy Flamer combo. RP has some pretty nifty powers and as has been said WP can give re-rolls to your packs. Another speed option is to take some swiftclaws (Marine Bikers) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188417-new-to-the-game/#findComment-2229781 Share on other sites
