i've been playing a canis list with Canis, 2 * 15 pack of wolves, 2 * 6 man squad of long fans with 5 missile launchers, and 5 thunderwolf cavalry (1 regular, 1 bolter, 1 meltabomb, 1 bolter and meltabomb, 1 power weapon) at 1000 points. i can't hold any objectives so i try to kill everything in sight. so far i've won 4 and had 1 draw. my TWC arent the hardest hitting unit to build but they are cheap and fit in at 275 pts and they took out some nob bikers
This tactica thread is a good place to start

Ah yes, tactica are always nice. I will check that out, thanks.

Grey Mage, is a rune priest able to take a TWM? I don't see it in the dex. He has options for a bike and jetpack, thats all I see.

SpaceWolf13c, no scoring units huh? Thats and interesting idea.

*blinks* sorry, that was meant to be an "Iron Priest", Ill edit above.

What points level do you all start fielding TWC? How many do you field at various points levels? Do you feel you are sacraficing any other parts of your army to get them? What role do they play for you?

Personally, in a game under 1500pts I would not spend more than 200pts on a TWC unit. Either fielding 4 basic models or 3 with upgrades. Try and keep them in cover as much as possible or in reserve until you really need them. They have a habit of drawing a lot of firepower.
