Ulriks Minion
Having space wolves a colour other than a grey colour would just be wierd looking. Maybe they can be gray but splattered with blood? Idk about ur camera problem did you zoom in or place the camera close up? Night Runner
Personally, they smack of Khorne Berserkers in red, but maybe that's the look and feel you want. Fluff-wise it would not be very feasible unless they are some lost company. Then again they are your models and you should paint them anyway you'd enjoy them the most. Â With respect to the painting I can't really tell cause the pic is not clear at all, but I would like to see other (better resolution) pictures when you have the time. I suggest standing further back and zooming in and taking a pic on highest resolution. Keep the camera very steady, preferably on a stand or table, in a well lit area (that way you will reduce shutter speed time and avoid excessive blurring). But with just 1 megapixel don't expect miracles. Grey Mage
Lol, its ironic is what I think- since red is the color of the Thousand Sons when we went to prospero to destroy them. Verseau
i am not zooming in, and take the picture from about 30cm away from the object. Â @night runner: and it is 7,1 Mega Pixel ok i will try in well lit room, standing further, and zooming in. Â thx for the suggestion Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188524-red-coloured-space-wolves/#findComment-2230785 Share on other sites
Ullr Direfang
well you should maybe try to work some grey or yellow in, so people don't think you are running a chaos army. Â for your camera, i have been told in the past to have it set to the setting with the flower symbol. it tends to make a clearer picture. nurglespuss
Well there is a chapter already called 'Red Wolves' :D which are basically spacdwolves in red (in my opinion) Â http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/thumb/f/f1/RedWolves.jpg/250px-RedWolves.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188524-red-coloured-space-wolves/#findComment-2230825 Share on other sites
Oldenhaller
The flower symbol is the macro setting - designed for taking close up pictures of smal things. As it's a digital camera it's worth taking a few to find the optimal distance/zoom to take good pictures. Additionally the more difuse 'white' light the better sp no flashes or normal bulbs. Florescent tubes or back lighting with card are good for this  ~O Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188524-red-coloured-space-wolves/#findComment-2230830 Share on other sites

Grey Mage
Yeah, went down to see my mum with the girlfriend, just enough snow to say it was white, not enough to make anything of it. *sighs*. Â No GW presents this year, but some nice materials for making terrain. Â Hey, thats where Ive seen these guys... Ill see if I can get that link to "Santa Claws" that was up recently . ironking
Red Wolves??? really? Â Why not Blood Wolves! That sounds much more menacing. Â Then you should also paint all the pelts like ... red wolves http://www.fws.gov/redwolf/ Â just a thought Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188524-red-coloured-space-wolves/#findComment-2230902 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Cause even in the grim dark not everything is skulls and blood. Stormbrow II
Maybe they're part of the 13th Company lost in the warp that has been stealing pieces of dead Chaos Marine armour over the years to replace their own? As others have said what about using them as a Space Wolves successor chapter - the Red Wolves or Blood Wolves. The High Lords of Terra used some of the stores of Wolfie gene-seed to secretly create a chapter. Â The 40k universe is a big place so almost anything can happen. Just make sure you tell your opponents before you play and there won't be any problems. Marek Grimfang
Maybe they have taken a "Blood Oath" and have since coloured their armour red until they have accomplished it. Ragnar02
Stormbrow II thats nearly exactly what my Night Wolves origins are (not the first lot the last sentence of your first paragraph)... there might be a big bit about them getting lost in a giant piece of an uncharted galaxy for a whole millenium but  Â A few washes would make the wolves colours more realistic but besides that cool idea, cool painting. Beef
Use whatever color you want. Being a Space Wolf is a way of life, not a color!   I agree. As long as they look wolfy and you have not just taken some red Ba and said hey I am playing SW than I have no problem. Fluff wise SW generally tend to be a shade of grey, take better pictures  But hell I am doing some Baby Blue SW cos everybody here on the forum loves them so much. And a Barrel of Ale
if your camera has the option try and use a 'macro' function, because otherwise digital camera's struggle to take good close up shots Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188524-red-coloured-space-wolves/#findComment-2231373 Share on other sites
Quillen
Ok you could paint them red. In the original fluff marines painted their armor for campaigns. So maybe they were attacking a world like mars where the color is redish. Also there is some black and white GW drawings with Space Wolves in Camo. Yes Camo! So it would be fine. Â They could be red corsairs. Which we know has happened in the past. rodf
well you could paint them as red wolves and play with the new codex. when blood angels comes out your army will be already painted red. when templars get upgraded you play them as red templars. when new vanilla marine comes out you could play them as sons of gulliman. the easiest color to bandwagon across the board. i painted the wolf kits i bought with ultra marine symbols and ultramarine blue. i even have wolf models i painted as blood angels. Prosedragon
If you are going to paint them red (as someone said, being a space wolf is a way of life , not a color) you may want to invest in a Devlan mud and ogryn flesh wash. The flesh wash you slather over faces, the mud over everything else. As long as you haven't painted over the details of the models they will look ten times better.
