sn0wstorm
Happy New Year! I finally finished my version of Logan Grimnar this morning (while wifey and son are still sleeping  ). I'm no big fan of the Logan you can still buy, and to some my version might scream blasphemy, but I think it fits my vision of the Great Wolf: http://www.studio-snow.com/warhammer/swl1.jpg http://www.studio-snow.com/warhammer/swl2.jpg Still needs a final layer of varnish, and tomorrow he will lead my troops in a 6 person 20.000 points Apocalypse battle. Cheers, Bernd Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188589-i-did-it-my-way-logan-grimnar/ Share on other sites
Primarch015
only problem i can see with the conversion is that the axe handle is far too short and looks weird; which can be easily improved. other than that, the paint job is looking solid, and the snow looks good. overall good model. Wolf Lord Ronin
I agree with the above comment that the axe handle seems a lil short, but otherwise that's a great interpretation of Logan. I can imagine him being on top of a mountain peak in the eye of a blizzard. Lysimachus
very nice, I like the use of the FW torso, suits Grimnar! only problem i can see with the conversion is that the axe handle is far too short and looks weird it does look a little short but I think it's ok, you could just say it's longer but buried in the snow! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188589-i-did-it-my-way-logan-grimnar/#findComment-2231467 Share on other sites
ironking
Maybe lengthen the haft of the axe and turn it upside down. awesome conversion though! pls pm me your snow technique - especially for getting little clumps of snow on the armor and weapons etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188589-i-did-it-my-way-logan-grimnar/#findComment-2231495 Share on other sites
Night Runner
Great figure! It has an atmosphere of 'don't mess with me unless you're ready to get bloody'. Very suitable first impression for a Space Wolf. The hand resting on the axe is a nice touch. W.r.t. the axe shaft being too short, personally I think the blades are too wide making the axe seem short, and the snow covering part of the axe does not help. But no one can dismiss that such an axe does look menacing. Congrats! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188589-i-did-it-my-way-logan-grimnar/#findComment-2231497 Share on other sites
SamaNagol
Very stoic. Nice. Not sure about the Storm Bolter though, it does look stuck on. You may have slightly over done the snow as well, it slightly distracts from the figure. But these are minor nit picks. It will look fantastic on the table top and certain to elicit some envious looks from your opponents. sn0wstorm
Stoic... yes, thats the word that fits best. There is actually a cable for the stormbolter on the outer side of the hand. It's just not visible in this angle. The handle of the axe may look short, but it's partly buried under the snow. I measured it so it could be used with both hands... longer might have looked better, but the hand holding would have been up at the shoulder, which looked way stranger. So it's a compromise... My other often used HQ is Njal, so a bit more snow was wanted here :) Thanks for the kind words, everyone :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188589-i-did-it-my-way-logan-grimnar/#findComment-2231528 Share on other sites

SamaNagol
I dont think it is the length of the axe, it is the width of the axehead by comparison, because those two power axe heads are HUGE on their own, let alone together lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188589-i-did-it-my-way-logan-grimnar/#findComment-2231583 Share on other sites
sn0wstorm
The Axe is definetly broad, and it should be IMO... anything else would have looked tiny I think ;-) And I did not want to buy the original Grimnar for the Axe-head Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188589-i-did-it-my-way-logan-grimnar/#findComment-2231603 Share on other sites
Ullr Direfang
i would actually say that i can see the axe as something reasonable. the handle might be slightly covered by the snow, but it fits the "as a frost blade or as a powerfist" feel to me. hawk_jolt
Wow! Looks great to me ;) I like the way you fixed the Storm Bolter to the back of the gauntlet to free up the second hand for the axe, snow looks great too - very atmospheric model! sn0wstorm
I am really not good at modelling, so with Logan I had to use the parts that were available to me. Lots of cutting, and scraping with the knife. All I can say is: It was so much fun doing him. He came out better then I imagined when I started him. And I have at least 3 more Characters to do... Njal, Bjorn (30% complete), and Arjac. Njal is painting only, Bjorn is finished cutting and customizing, and Arjac will get a very dynamic pose. Well... I'll post pics in the next few weeks :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188589-i-did-it-my-way-logan-grimnar/#findComment-2231837 Share on other sites
